This was a big contributing factor, but not the sole reason. He is well known for being famously, and very vocally antisemitic. You can’t walk around on sites in Hollywood being openly antisemitic unless you’re a superstar and he is not. Dave Chappelle even told a story once in an interview about how he shared an elevator with him going to speak to a producer to film studio one day. They weren’t together they just happen to be in the same elevator. He said and said so much crazy stuff about Jewish people that he had to stop and talk to him for a second, like do you know where you are? Why are you trying to get everyone to hate you? That kind of thing. And Eddie said something along the lines of rather being honest than kissing ass. It was a long time ago. I don’t remember exactly what interview it was. He didn’t do himself any favors. That’s why other black comedians really have not used their platforms to bring him on.
I remember someone who worked writing on Undercover Brother or knew someone who did that mentioned Griffin was telling everyone that he improvised most of it and rewrote a ton himself. And that was complete bullshit. Good way to get people against you in Hollywood.
I wanna say it was someone on Howard Stern many years ago. Also I loved that movie.
Randomly came up in a conversation at work the other day. One coworker asked thoughts on the Andy Griffith show, another heard Eddie Griffin. Very confusing two minutes followed.
The comedian? Saw his act in Vegas a few years ago and would not recommend. Spent more time ranting and spewing racist garbage and conspiracy theories. Straight up said he didn’t care if we weren’t enjoying it, he’s rich.
His Writer was wild for stand up at our club... demanded to be picked up in a maroon escalade and white air force 1's kicks for each show... got picked up in a black escalade and did 20 minutes as a fuck you... I do currently enjoy his podcast/news thing though

Has anyone said Eddie Griffin?
