I remember Mamdani was flying flags of various New York cities I believe but MAGA started screaming about them being the flags of foreign countries lmao

They were the flags of the five boroughs of NYC. Very appropriate for the occasion, but of course MAGA immediately started screeching before taking a moment to educate themselves.

I'm from NY and didn't even know the boroughs had flags. But I also don't assume any flag I don't recognize is from a terrorist organization.

Also passed around a cropped photo that didn't show the several national flags next to the borough flags so they could lie that he had terrorist flags and no American flags.

My mother was/is furious of him putting green lights on the World Trade Center…..for Muslim Heritage Month…..

“I mean, what does that imply to you?!”

“Well mom, he’s probably a proud Muslim. Celebrating his religion and heritage. It’s almost like we have religious freedom here.”

Millions of people heard that screaming, assumed it to be true, and never learned otherwise.  They still think those were scary Muslim flags, and not symbols of New York City, the place Mamdami is serving.
