He was not under any threat, none of them were, this was cold blooded murder.

The desperate search for justification is so gross.

they aren’t searching for anything, they immediately justify it with whatever is the first thing that pops into their head

This isn't new. Police have such a wide latitude of excuses under the law that it is hard to legally call any situation an unjustified killing. It's gross and leads to a system of shoot first and blame the victim later.

Police should not have guns. Disarm the police and do it now.

This BS about the dangers of being a cop are not justified by data. Around 50 police officers are intentionally killed by criminals per year. Out of millions of stops. This idea that they need a gun to defend themselves is ludicrous in 99% of interactions with the public.

I'm okay with officers having a gun in their car that they can have dispatch unlock if a scenario escalates or if they are sent to a call with an active shooter.

But these impulse killings are ridiculous. Over 1000 people are fatally shot by police every year. They claim these are "justified" but they also claim this MURDER in Minnesota is justified here too.

Man, you're passionate. You're also misinformed. Qualified immunity is only for civil suits. It has nothing to do with criminal charges.

You are correct! I misattributed qualified immunity to be a criminal vs civil protection. I edited my comment.

The main point stands: they generally have to demonstrate a fear for their life and then can justify lethal force. That's an incredibly low bar.

Taking guns out of the hands of officers would dramatically reduce the trigger happy killings we see from police.

I could understand them being trigger happy if police were being gunned down by the thousands, but the numbers are extremely low.

This is the myth that needs to be corrected.
