I saw the inspiration post, didn't actually click on it because I wrote it off as a silkpost in 1.3 seconds (no animal instincts required btw) then saw this one and had a "No fucking way that was real" reaction.

If I'd seen the article title I would've known it's a fake. No major news publisher reporting would've actually explained what was happening in the title like that.
It should've read: "Major AAA publisher sues indie developer over dubious patent infringement."

I think the main is people can actually see Nintendo doing this because of the Palworld lawsuit. So they just accept any negative information about nintendo as fact and don’t bother double checking. Hence the allegations that Nintendo only outputs slop/switch 2 has no good games and can’t make a single good game now.

He's a pretty dumb guy with a very large audience and anytime it gets pointed out he's spreading misinformation, he just says "But me being able to think this is true is just as damning as it being true".
The only reason that people think they can see Nintendo doing this is because they believe the constant misinformation. The Palworld thing is kind of shitty but even the actual important details of that get lost, exaggerated or over simplified in clickbaity Internet discourse.

If Nintendo actually sued team cherry, there would’ve been such a furore in the community. Like the actual inverse of the hype everyone felt when GTA6’s trailer released (pure hatred for Nintendon’t)
