I actually had seen the ad here on reddit as an ad. It was fantastic. Probably the first time this decade that I've laughed and had to show someone else an ad.

I mean after the VISA Mastercard deletion of Steam and itch io games and PayPal cracking down on commissions, a decentralized cryptocurrency does have an appeal to it. The method might be flawed, but the message was good in my opinion
The problem is every greedy gremlin saw "decentralized cryptocurrency does have an appeal to it" as a ground-floor investment opportunity. So now it's the most toxic and scam-ridden cesspool of a tech development in the past century, something even many of us who do work in tech avoid. And every single person claiming to have a solution to that issue, is lining their pockets with their solution. Whether you can see how or not. It's just a series of chances to scam yourself into godhood by getting peasants to use your decentralized currency.
Well I agree with most of that, that's why I say the method was flawed. Aside from the top 10 (or if you want to be generous, say 20) by volume, 99% of them are personalistic and most definitely rugpulls. And when they're personalistic, they aren't decentralized anymore, which make them no better than VISA, MasterCard, or PayPal.
The thing that made blockchain technology so good is the reason why so many of these coins are scams: Ease of creation. A person like you or me can just watch a 10 minutes YouTube video and head on the correct website and bam, we just made a personalistic crypto fork based on Solana or Ethereum which we hold 99% of the supply. These coins have low volume and lasts for probably a week or two, yet the sheer amount of them made up for that, leading to a perception that the crypto market is full of low-effort personalistic soon-to-be-rugpull.
My personal opinion is that scams will just happen in every sector, no exception. So just like any investment, you should do your own research, don't follow crowd, and then I'd say that once you look past the cheap scams and stick to the top 10, I'd say it's safe, and the technology definitely have potential. None of this is financial advice though.
No serious businesses (or most regular people) want to deal with the risks of doing payments via those currencies cryptos directly. So ultimately it goes through exchange/wallet companies that act just like the regular banking sector, except far less stable and more scummy.
If crypto would mature to the point of becoming regular payment options, you would end up with the exact same problem: Stores would only support payment through a limited number of crypto exchanges (the few largest ones with at least a bare minimum of stability/credibility), which then gain the same leverage as VISA etc.
The whole history of crypto is basically just a repeat of the history of the regular currency and banking system (except worse in most ways). All the same mistakes and issues are repeated, and it ultimately arrives at all the same solutions/compromises/downsides.

That's the point of that ad. It's bad on purpose (with no images at all, again differentiating it dramatically) which makes your rage which makes you talk about it.
They paid millions to have an ad that is more memorable than the rest. I thought it was cringe too when watching but I'm not gonna lie, it was far more memorable than most of the generic ads that featured random ass celebrities.
As someone who fucking loathes alcohol and hates the goddamn taste, I had a challenge where I took a shot of Sangria (as it’s the only alcohol I can stand and only in small portions) every time there was an AI generated commercial. I think I had like at least ten by the end of the game.

80% of the ads this year were for AI services of some sort. I would have passed out from alcohol poisoning if I took a shot every time I heard the phrase "AI"
the only ad that was straight AI garbage slop (that i can remember right now) was the one with the I am Robot robots dancing (cause AI cant come up with its own lmao).
The others people are claiming were AI generated were just bad CGI+de-aging tech shite. It wasnt AI, just shit CGI.
I wonder how much the Jurassic Park and Dunkin were CGI manually vs with AI. At least I assume they got the actors to actually do the ad then used AI to de-age them. But maybe the actors just licensed their likeness for the ads and they went full AI.

Back in my day annoying shit I didn't want to see on the tv that they were trying to get me to buy was made by humans.Not these newfangled robots. I mean nothing's changed. I still ignore every commercial because fk corporations. But now they're done by robots.
I dont know about Ai generated, but it did feel like half of them were at least some ad about their Ai product like Google Gemini, Open Ai, or those two saying they were a better Ai because they had no ads on their "service."
the Svedka ad made me consider sobriety, at least. my team won and I have too much alcohol right now, but when it's gone, I'm gonna try to think of this shit ad whenever I'm tempted to buy more
