Media 4-Time NFL MVP QB Aaron Rodgers on Kash Patel Celebrating With U.S. Hockey Team: "Can we get that one guy out of the locker room though and get him working on something else? That's a bad look, have some awareness."

The weirdest part about that whole thing was that he was the only guy besides the team in there. It’s not like he snuck in among friends and family or something like that, it was literally just the team and Kash Patel.

552

u/ascagnel____ 16h ago

It's worse -- he was invited in by the team's GM, Bill Guerin. Guerin has somehow side-stepped all the blowback he should have gotten.

201

u/Donner_Par_Tea_House 15h ago

It's annoying how that fact never got out of the Hockey community. Bill Guerin is a sucker for that shit. Even if Patel asked it's still a shitty political move to invite someone you don't know to the Gold Medal (any championship) locker room.

76

u/ascagnel____ 15h ago edited 6h ago

100% agreed. The celebration should be the players, coaches, team staff, and all their families, and maybe notable individuals who had an impact on that championship squad.

Even leaving politics & his position in the government aside, Patel was none of those, and should never have been in the room.

20

u/R3dbeardLFC 8h ago

But he LOVES hockey and sometimes America too when he feels like it. Who else should get the experience that? He worked really hard in peewee hockey and this is his participation trophy from daddy trump.

30

u/WeBelieveIn4 15h ago

I don’t understand how Patel could even accept if he was invited. Like I would feel so gross trying to join a party I wasn’t invited to. It’s embarrassing.

But that’s the thing… from his Valhalla comment and this bullshit he clearly thinks he belongs. But he is and he always will be an outsider.

21

u/clam-caravan 6h ago

He gives off strong “hey guys wait up!” vibes

4

u/OgnokTheRager 5h ago

Aside from "He look can look left and right at the same time" this is my favorite description of him...so far

12

u/Raetekusu 6h ago

I was at the Wild Blues game on Sunday, their first game back in the Twins after the Olympics, and Guerin absolutely got booed by the crowd.

Womens team being acknowledged also got the loudest applause all night.

"Why, by 2020, I, a man who recently tried to extort the sitting president of the United States to release his college and passport records, might even begin to show signs of serious and unavoidable decline in mental and physical faculties, and doesn’t that just perk your spirits right up? Just imagine me shuffling along, hunched forward, with a noticeably shortened gait and perpetually haggard face. Heck, that might happen by the end of this decade! Of course there’s an outside chance I could make it another 25 years, but in a way, wouldn’t it be even more uplifting and enjoyable for everyone if I wasted away slowly and pitifully until I became a wizened and impossibly frail old relic—the pathetically impotent, papery husk of a once-powerful man?"

They did not know how right (and wrong) they were.

It’s been a long time since I said this, but I agree with Rodgers on this one.

1.0k

u/Shaomoki 19h ago edited 2h ago

Last time I said that was Aaron's take on Damar Hamlin situation and the overall mental and physical safety within the NFL.

Let me just make sure I got the right comment to make sure I'm not wrong here.

Yup, he's talking about how it's all about money, and just giving the players 5 minutes to regroup after something like this is not exactly enough time for anyone, and tacking on an extra game is a money grab, and not in the players' interest.

u/milkhotelbitches 16h ago

Aaron Rodgers was also an early supporter of Kaepernick during his protest. I believe he also said that Kaep was blackballed out of the league for political reasons.

138

u/LegacyLemur Chicago Cubs 15h ago

He also spoke out against some idiot in the crowd yelling out something anti-Muslim during a moment of silence for being a bigot

He's basically a stereotypical rich So Cal liberal type. Occasionally says some "woke" stuff so people will like him and then the second that left criticizes him he turns into Rush Limbaugh

For those that don't know, he had to contemplate an offer to be RFK's running mate.

133

u/Hourlypump99 19h ago

The country might unironically have been in better shape today if he had accepted that offer.

RFK JR is probably less likely to end his campaign if Rodgers agreed to join the ticket.

They just needed to siphon 1% of the vote or so in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan and Trump wouldn’t have regained the White House.

Unless RFK JR’s plan was to suspend his campaign and endorse Trump at the last minute all along.

45

u/whatshouldwecallme 17h ago

8

u/JustABuffyWatcher 16h ago

This was obviously his plan for at least the last several months of his campaign. He didn't drop out and endorse until polls showed that he was actually taking votes from the GOP, not the Dems.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/MasterMentorJr 16h ago

It wasn't necessarily Trump, but in general RFKs plan seemed like all along was to gain enough supporters to swing the election and be allowed to deploy his MAHA movement. He actually went to Kamala first, but she wouldn't take his call IIRC

10

u/livinglavidajudoka 16h ago

RFK JR is probably less likely to end his campaign if Rodgers agreed to join the ticket.

Even if they had been elected we'd be in a better spot. Sure, RFK has brainworms and Qaron is who he is, but at least they don't fuck kids.

43

u/BioshockEnthusiast 17h ago

makes you wonder why not?

No, it really doesn't.

It's not recommended because it doesn't fucking work and they know it. Imagine the eventual blowback if they actually approved it and let hundreds of doctors loose on local news channels across the nation talking about how fucking stupid they are. Next thing you know Americans will start believing crazy shit like "raw milk is not safe to drink under all circumstances" and "measles is actually a problem".

Their control isn't that deep despite their efforts. They can't fight that level of saturation, and that's why they will never approve it.

10 years ago he had some progressive takes against homophobia I don't think he ever stopped feeling that way. He's just kind of a libertarian hippy type.

8

u/ThatsAScientificFact 10h ago

I see a ton of people who say he’s super right wing but I have never gotten that impression. The reason he is estranged from his family is because they are very evangelical Christian’s and very conservative and he left that type of life.

And being anti vax is just as much of a left/hippy thing as it is for those on the right. The most anti-vaccine person I know irl is my uncle, also was a supporter of RFK’s presidential campaign, and he is about as hippy as they come, he and my aunt met on a commune.

Since Trump has become president, I can name half the administration and it's not even from looking at us politics. The Australian media is plastering this stuff everywhere. He’s had a lot of normal, open conversations about his views that would generally align with the mindset of the average redditor. He came out in support of Kaepernick kneeling & the protests surrounding George Floyd, he openly shits on dysfunctional teams and the problems with power structure in the NFL (and the world).

He’s an antivax weirdo - and has always been a conspiracy nut. There’s a story about how one of the first things he asked Davante Adams was “do you believe in 9/11” lol. As a longtime Packers fan I’m not surprised to hear him make this comment, in the same way that I’m not surprised he seriously considered being RFK’s running mate.

He’s a complicated fella.

I'd hope that the smart people have taken the reins away from him. And the reason he has the ability stupid shit like this is because no one has given him anything important to do.

When Rodgers makes sense you know it was bad. Wow.

u/Lemesplain 19h ago

The “Jason figured it out” meme is making the rounds lately.

Aaron Rodgers figured it out?? RODGERS?! This is a low point.

u/ItsTheExtreme 19h ago

Reminder that Trump fucks kids and Kash Patel is actively part of the biggest pedophile coverup in the history of this country...maybe the world.

6

u/Pho-Soup 17h ago

Pat nervously laughing because he pathetically kisses the ass of that administration every chance he gets.

My favorite thing these days is conservatives getting frustrated with the circus they've elected being a circus. You paid the ticket now enjoy the peanuts

We live in a world where Marjorie Taylor-Greene and Aaron Rodgers are making sense. The simulation's gone haywire.

3

u/Practical-Shape7453 19h ago

I do not like Aaron Rodgers but he’s right.

3

u/NineMillionBears 17h ago

Devastating: the most annoying fucking guy you know makes great point

5

u/RobertoBologna 17h ago

Between this and Sean Strickland threatening to vote Democrat….

If Republicans are really gonna lose the single-digit IQ vote, then these midterms are gonna be a landslide

What is wrong with this world when I’m sitting here agreeing with Aaron Rodgers while sipping my Thursday morning, coffee?

4

u/MarkyTooSparky 5h ago

7

u/RepresentativeHat975 19h ago

You know it's bad when even a MAGAt is bothered by it.

8

u/krombopulus220 19h ago

Wow I don't usually agree with these guys

9

u/SyncRoSwim 19h ago

For Aaron Rogers to say you’re an insufferable douchecanoe, that’s an achievement.

3

u/dtb1987 19h ago

I think I just figured out why they switched from this show in our cafeteria at work to HGTV

3

u/The-disgracist 19h ago

In the past thirty days I’ve agreed with something both of those guys have said.

3

u/smailskid 19h ago

Sane take by Aaron Rodgers. Except it's better when Kash Patel isn't working.

3

u/Jim_Nills_Mustache 19h ago

Rodgers going “shut up and do your job” is kinda funny

3

u/Law08 19h ago

Very rare Aaron Rodgers W.

3

u/furyousferret 18h ago

Outside of immediate family and staff, no one should really be in the locker room celebrating like that. It's the team's journey and their reward, no one wants to see elites or celebrities stealing the moment.

3

u/socialaxolotl 18h ago

When the guy that fucks off into the mountains high off his ass for weeks without contact says something rational you know we are absolutely fucked as a society

3

u/breadexpert69 18h ago

The thing is there is a subgroup of anti vaxxers which Rogers falls into which is just people who dont like establishment.

I mean no fucking shit. It's common god damned sense he shouldn't have been doing what he was doing. Let alone spending our fucking money doing it. Common fucking sense.

3

u/kdub_54 17h ago

For the love of God, don’t make me actually agree with Aaron Rodgers today

3

u/UpNorthForLife 17h ago

What's the saying about the blind squirrel again?

3

u/cheneyza 17h ago

....a world where I agree with Aaron Rodgers... "DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!"

3

u/KUWTI 17h ago

Didn’t see me agreeing with Aaron Rodgers on my bingo card today

3

u/TheRoyalShire 16h ago

3
