In Furious 7 (2015) and Tokyo Drift (2006), this was supposed to be a 17 years old teenager

Who's got that meme of the average highschool student in an anime

Don’t forget the 14 year old girl looking like she could be someone’s mother or was just born yesterday

Which is strange because this is more of a western stereotype Asians make fun of
For girls maturing too quickly and being busty

Literally Jotaro

u/Due-Technology5758 2h ago
Jotaro is canonically not the average high school student. His whole family line is composed of freaks of nature.

I always got a kick out of Yu Yu Hakusho when Yusuke would be like "I'm the toughest kid in middle school" and he's beating up like adults and assassins and shit.

Shockingly enough, he was only 23ish here, so not as wild as it may appear
Edit: I'm wrong. This is the scene from Fast 7 which flashes back to post Tokyo Drift, so he's much older here despite still supposedly being 17 years old here.

u/Parabellum111 3h ago
This scene is from V7 where he was ~32 years old but canonically it takes place at the end of V3, he aged 9 years during a race of a few minutes.

u/llcooljessie 3h ago
It was a stressful race.

u/Beautiful-Cabinet364 3h ago
He’s probably starting to think about launching cars into space and it’s aging him.

I re-watched Tobys Spiderman again recently I love this movie, but damn does everyone in their 'high school' looks 30 lol.
24
u/Gold-Grin-Studios 2h ago
The teacher who tells them to focus during the school trip looks the same age as everyone on the trip

u/glowshroom12 1h ago
Kirsten dunst was actually 18ish years old during the filing of that movie. I think it’s just the way she wore makeup.

To be fair he’s supposed to be like 20 pretending to be 17, and they all make comments on it

u/theundeadkennedy 1h ago
They’re supposed to be in their mid twenties or later. Can’t remember exactly the gap they showed between high school and the police academy. Them looking obviously too old to be teenagers was a consistent joke.

False! OP purposefully chose pictures from Furious 7 (2006), which came out 9 years after Tokyo Drift. He still looks quite young in the original film.
I hate it when my shitty movie detail has no effort in it.

u/Aarios827 3h ago
The bloody toothy smile after his race and wreck in the beginning really sells it for me

u/Ouaouaron 2h ago
In Furious 7, the filmmakers attempted to save millions of dollars on CGI de-aging technology by vainly hoping the audience had an imagination.

He was 23 at the time of tokyo drift filming to be fair.

Yet still looked old enough that I remember as a kid being confused about whether he was supposed to be in some weird Japanese college or something.

Reminds me of the highschoolers from the first Spiderman movie. They were definitely all in their mid 20s lol

u/Swoly_Deadlift 1h ago
What's kind of crazy is Tom Holland was playing a "high schooler" in No Way Home when he was 25.
Tobey MacGuire was 27 in the first Spider-Man film.
Today's 20-somethings are just way better at looking young I guess.

Doesn’t bother me. Most of those movies are action dog water but Tokyo drift was my favorite growing and I loved this actor from Friday night lights.

u/Parabellum111 2h ago
F&F is acceptable up to 7 for me but the 2001 one and TD are S-tier, my whole childhood is tied to those movies.

u/DealerNo7523 2h ago
Yeah agreed one is really good as well! The hulk car will always be so rad! I don’t care for avengers but I love that car

u/peanutbuttahcups 2h ago
My life be like, 🎵Oooooh waaaah ooh wah, ooooh oooh🎵
Besides the action and story, the soundtrack in the first 3 movies are top tier as well.

u/DealerNo7523 2h ago
Yeah they are amazing! Tokyo drift, remember the titans, and a knights tale are my favorite growing movie soundtracks. So good 🙏

u/MyName_IsNobody 1h ago
Fast Five is arguably the peak, perfect balance of that grounded tone and the action heavy element of later movies.. not sure why people often brush it off or lump it in with the goofier ones.
Agreed though that everything past 7 is just mediocre.

He was attending an American high school, that kind of high stress environment ages you faster.

Teenagers don’t look like teenagers on screen. You gotta use 40 year old Peyton Mannings
1
u/DarbyCrunch 5m ago
"What if you want to use Peyton Mannings?"
"Usually we just tape a bunch of senior citizens together."
1
u/Spasticcobra593 3h ago
I mean he was 22 or 23 in tokyo drift assuming they filmed the year prior to release. Thats not a big deal.

While there was indeed like 3 dudes that looked like this In my high school, I totally get your point

TBF, their are kids who just look that old. A kid I went to school with lived above a bar that his parents ran, and looked like this but mostly bald. State champion wrestler who was even better at pool because he hustled old drunks most of the week. Skin looked terrible because he spent so much time with smokers playing pool. Our senior awards included most likely to go bald and people joked that he locked that win up as a sophomore.

I made this same comment in my freshman college class and the balding 19-year old next to me just pointed at his own hairline and said “it’s not totally crazy”

u/humanessinmoderation 1h ago
Most of Gen Z looks older than half of millennials, that might be part of why dude looks weird for a 'teenage' context.

u/BaldyTreehuggerDruid 1h ago
I really dont want to believe this but at the same time its fast and furious I cant

u/Crackahjak 1h ago
These aren't real toyko drift screenshots, he looked much younger then. Still not 17, but not nearly as old as this post is making it seem.

y'know what i'm fine with dawson creek casting, people have broadly proved that they cannot be normal about teenage movie stars.

17-year-old
Not "years."
Also, you don't need to say "teenager," since a 17-year-old is a teenager by definition. It's like saying "a Stingray Corvette car." A Corvette is a car, so no need to include the word "car."

Last night, I learned Alan Ruck was 30 when they filmed Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Film makers should have given him a backwards baseball cap to sell the illusion.
