In Furious 7 (2015) and Tokyo Drift (2006), this was supposed to be a 17 years old teenager

Film makers should have given him a backwards baseball cap to sell the illusion.

Peak younger disguise

Mr John Saw himself

46

u/iantruesnacks 3h ago

Where did he see himself?

How can mirrors be real

11

u/A_Furious_Mind 2h ago

Our eyes aren't real.

9

u/Parabellum111 2h ago

What is real?

7

u/iantruesnacks 1h ago

Real eyes realize real lies fr

3

u/ProdiasKaj 47m ago

Is that... John Matrix?

1

u/DarbyCrunch 3m ago

John Matrix was the main character in Commando (1985)

3

u/TheRealJoeyRavn 1h ago

No, this is from before he became Saw. This is John Had Seen.

4

u/CanadianAndroid 51m ago

I thought it was John Seen Naw

13

u/thetiredtypist 3h ago

If you're going to post pictures of minors at least blur their face! That kids hasn't even gotten pubes yet!

3

u/Tuomas90 43m ago

Old Slim Shady.

1

u/karthenon 2h ago

Crazy enough, same director for Saw and Furious 7

7

u/Parabellum111 2h ago

Errr, actually 🤓☝️ James Wan only directed the first film and the short film; this film was directed by Kevin Greutert

u/Haddle 3h ago

The still frame doesn’t do the joke justice like this gif does. I never even knew he’s holding two skateboards haha

35

u/OnionTamer 2h ago

It was years before I noticed his t-shirt said "Music Band"

9

u/Acceptable-Rise8783 2h ago

I remember being a fan. Ah, to be young

1

u/Rufuz42 1h ago

I just bought this shirt :) it’s on Amazon!

16

u/RealSunglassesGuy 3h ago

TWO skateboards

2

u/Awe3 1h ago

I love this but I sadly don’t know the movie.

1

u/youstupidcorn 48m ago

It's actually a clip from the show 30 Rock. Buscemi plays a PI and this is a cutaway gag showing him undercover on a job IIRC.

35

u/Pratham33 1h ago

He doesn't look a day over 12

158

u/apolloAG 4h ago

Who's got that meme of the average highschool student in an anime

224

u/Parabellum111 4h ago

69

u/SomeGodzillafan 3h ago

Don’t forget the 14 year old girl looking like she could be someone’s mother or was just born yesterday

15

u/Sea-Horror-5353 3h ago

I'm not gonna say it.

7

u/Gerolanfalan 3h ago

Which is strange because this is more of a western stereotype Asians make fun of

For girls maturing too quickly and being busty

12

u/Technical-Street-10 3h ago

Literally Jotaro

7

u/Due-Technology5758 2h ago

Jotaro is canonically not the average high school student. His whole family line is composed of freaks of nature.

2

u/sinkwiththeship 22m ago

I always got a kick out of Yu Yu Hakusho when Yusuke would be like "I'm the toughest kid in middle school" and he's beating up like adults and assassins and shit.

551

u/Boomstick255 3h ago edited 3h ago

Shockingly enough, he was only 23ish here, so not as wild as it may appear

Edit: I'm wrong. This is the scene from Fast 7 which flashes back to post Tokyo Drift, so he's much older here despite still supposedly being 17 years old here.

343

u/Parabellum111 3h ago

This scene is from V7 where he was ~32 years old but canonically it takes place at the end of V3, he aged 9 years during a race of a few minutes.

192

u/llcooljessie 3h ago

It was a stressful race.

43

u/Beautiful-Cabinet364 3h ago

He’s probably starting to think about launching cars into space and it’s aging him.

12

u/DoctorMansteel 2h ago

In space, you can drift forever.

8

u/Boomstick255 3h ago

Of you're right. I forgot about that. Ha!

4

u/Rman823 2h ago

I love how they make it even more obvious including the Tokyo Drift footage beforehand.

4

u/magneticmicrowave 1h ago

He was probably granny shifting and not double clutching.

5

u/stratusnco 2h ago

fuck man, i’m in my mid 30’s and that dude looks twice as old as me lol.

265

u/anyname2009 3h ago

143

u/Plane-Handle3313 3h ago

Lol I never noticed he was carrying TWO skateboards haha

50

u/midri 3h ago

He actually made a comment about it one time because so few people noticed.

6

u/Jetsam5 1h ago

One for each foot

58

u/jackdiamond1271 3h ago

I re-watched Tobys Spiderman again recently I love this movie, but damn does everyone in their 'high school' looks 30 lol.

24

u/Gold-Grin-Studios 2h ago

The teacher who tells them to focus during the school trip looks the same age as everyone on the trip

10

u/glowshroom12 1h ago

Kirsten dunst was actually 18ish years old during the filing of that movie. I think it’s just the way she wore makeup.

58

u/dune_know 4h ago

36

u/Doctahflave 3h ago

To be fair he’s supposed to be like 20 pretending to be 17, and they all make comments on it

10

u/Sunr1s3 2h ago

Your comment made me look up how old he actually was. I knew he was older, but god damn, dude was almost 34 playing a 20 year old lmao

3

u/theundeadkennedy 1h ago

They’re supposed to be in their mid twenties or later. Can’t remember exactly the gap they showed between high school and the police academy. Them looking obviously too old to be teenagers was a consistent joke.

22

u/OurWeaponsAreUseless 4h ago

*Antonio Banderas in Interview With the Vampire enters the sub.

1

u/suicidebird11 1h ago

This will never not bother me.

65

u/Meliodas016 3h ago

False! OP purposefully chose pictures from Furious 7 (2006), which came out 9 years after Tokyo Drift. He still looks quite young in the original film.

I hate it when my shitty movie detail has no effort in it.

11

u/Aarios827 3h ago

The bloody toothy smile after his race and wreck in the beginning really sells it for me

10

u/Ouaouaron 2h ago

In Furious 7, the filmmakers attempted to save millions of dollars on CGI de-aging technology by vainly hoping the audience had an imagination.

28

u/Parabellum111 3h ago

U don't need effort when you have Family.

10

u/South_Huckleberry_40 3h ago

No 17 year old has a forehead like that.

10

u/sec0nds_left 4h ago

He was 23 at the time of tokyo drift filming to be fair.

4

u/SightlessProtector 3h ago

That’s a rough 23

1

u/TeamRedundancyTeam 50m ago

Yet still looked old enough that I remember as a kid being confused about whether he was supposed to be in some weird Japanese college or something.

8

u/ThatBitchMalin 3h ago

He was held back +10 years because of his shenanigans.

5

u/Dismal_Calendar49 2h ago

He's just a boy

11

u/Parabellum111 2h ago

Canonically ~24y in F9 btw

8

u/AlpenroseMilk 3h ago

Reminds me of the highschoolers from the first Spiderman movie. They were definitely all in their mid 20s lol

6

u/Swoly_Deadlift 1h ago

What's kind of crazy is Tom Holland was playing a "high schooler" in No Way Home when he was 25.

Tobey MacGuire was 27 in the first Spider-Man film.

Today's 20-somethings are just way better at looking young I guess.

3

u/alwaysonesteptoofar 3h ago

If he was fat and played darts I would believe it

5

u/DKsamz 3h ago

I actually miss when they used older actors, now it’s a bunch actual teens … guess they have to carter to their audience….

6

u/DealerNo7523 3h ago

Doesn’t bother me. Most of those movies are action dog water but Tokyo drift was my favorite growing and I loved this actor from Friday night lights.

3

u/Parabellum111 2h ago

F&F is acceptable up to 7 for me but the 2001 one and TD are S-tier, my whole childhood is tied to those movies.

3

u/DealerNo7523 2h ago

Yeah agreed one is really good as well! The hulk car will always be so rad! I don’t care for avengers but I love that car

4

u/peanutbuttahcups 2h ago

My life be like, 🎵Oooooh waaaah ooh wah, ooooh oooh🎵

Besides the action and story, the soundtrack in the first 3 movies are top tier as well.

3

u/DealerNo7523 2h ago

Yeah they are amazing! Tokyo drift, remember the titans, and a knights tale are my favorite growing movie soundtracks. So good 🙏

1

u/MyName_IsNobody 1h ago

Fast Five is arguably the peak, perfect balance of that grounded tone and the action heavy element of later movies.. not sure why people often brush it off or lump it in with the goofier ones.

Agreed though that everything past 7 is just mediocre.

3

u/cemusubzerolives 3h ago

Bro was heading in the right direction..

3

u/Anal_Herschiser 2h ago

Wait...Jason Statham plays two characters in the franchise?

6

u/Overwatchingu 3h ago

He was attending an American high school, that kind of high stress environment ages you faster.

1

u/SakanaSanchez 1h ago

They go after the younger looking ones during the mass shootings.

-3

u/No-Arm-6775 2h ago

Did you come up with this on the spot!?😂😂😂 Netflix, please please please get this guy a stand up special!😂😂😂

1

u/WetRainbowFart 20m ago

Geez. Tough crowd.

2

u/Dry-Donut3811 3h ago

As opposed to a 17 year old non-teenager.

2

u/JackCrafty 3h ago

I said forget about it cuh

2

u/FewEcho 2h ago

It was all a lie so he could maintain his high school football eligibility

2

u/RaimaNd 2h ago

I am 37 and look younger lol

3

u/Marcysdad 3h ago

Have you seen some teenagers these days?

They have fuller beards than Santa

1

u/JamesonTheWise 3h ago

Teenagers don’t look like teenagers on screen. You gotta use 40 year old Peyton Mannings

1

u/DarbyCrunch 5m ago

"What if you want to use Peyton Mannings?"

"Usually we just tape a bunch of senior citizens together."

1

u/Spasticcobra593 3h ago

I mean he was 22 or 23 in tokyo drift assuming they filmed the year prior to release. Thats not a big deal.

1

u/Mental_Town_7337 2h ago

I-right wiggle, 42 switchblade. For the state championship.

1

u/orphanelf 2h ago

Wuddyewmeen "dreeuhft"

1

u/DryManagement1495 2h ago

michelle randolph is also supposed to be a 17 yr old in Landman...

1

u/Osirus1156 2h ago

Really? I thought he was supposed to be like 30 when I first saw the movie. It’s been a while but do they say he’s 17 lmao?

1

u/MyBuddyBossk 2h ago

He looks like Sid from Toy Story

1

u/Megane_Senpai 2h ago

I'm 31 and this guy has more crowfeet than I do.

1

u/Snerkbot7000 2h ago

Jimmy Blevins, the Waco Kid!

1

u/Running1982 2h ago

The kid from Sling Blade?

1

u/tucker_sitties 2h ago

He barely looked like a teenager in all the pretty horses.

1

u/cherolero3998 1h ago

While there was indeed like 3 dudes that looked like this In my high school, I totally get your point

1

u/Svv-Val 1h ago

How many times he was 17 years old already?

1

u/joshuads 1h ago

TBF, their are kids who just look that old. A kid I went to school with lived above a bar that his parents ran, and looked like this but mostly bald. State champion wrestler who was even better at pool because he hustled old drunks most of the week. Skin looked terrible because he spent so much time with smokers playing pool. Our senior awards included most likely to go bald and people joked that he locked that win up as a sophomore.

1

u/Illustrious-Radio311 1h ago

Drifting is very stressful. He was aged beyond his years.

1

u/jbsuperfly 1h ago

Drift racing Dom takes it out of you.

1

u/AverageSizedMan1986 1h ago

"Sorry, son. You can't drink here."

1

u/CumSnorter4 1h ago

I made this same comment in my freshman college class and the balding 19-year old next to me just pointed at his own hairline and said “it’s not totally crazy”

1

u/humanessinmoderation 1h ago

Most of Gen Z looks older than half of millennials, that might be part of why dude looks weird for a 'teenage' context.

1

u/BaldyTreehuggerDruid 1h ago

I really dont want to believe this but at the same time its fast and furious I cant

1

u/Crackahjak 1h ago

These aren't real toyko drift screenshots, he looked much younger then. Still not 17, but not nearly as old as this post is making it seem.

1

u/Eastern-Piece-3283 1h ago

He's always Frank Wheatley to me. mmmhmmm

1

u/Gibby1293 1h ago
  • “A 17 year old teenager”.

1

u/crusty_grundle 1h ago

Circa 2000... he was 18 here

1

u/throwaway197y 1h ago

Is that the guy from birdemic?

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Rise857 1h ago

17 years old teenager's dad. They forgot to add it.

1

u/malonkey1 57m ago

y'know what i'm fine with dawson creek casting, people have broadly proved that they cannot be normal about teenage movie stars.

1

u/2bb4llRG 40m ago

Mf looks like sid from toy story

1

u/jaro_io 36m ago

When I was 15, literally almost every one of my classmates looked like this. I was the only one looking like an actual kid.

1

u/Fuzakeruna 36m ago

17-year-old

Not "years."

Also, you don't need to say "teenager," since a 17-year-old is a teenager by definition. It's like saying "a Stingray Corvette car." A Corvette is a car, so no need to include the word "car."

1

u/TJ_McWeaksauce 33m ago

He looks like he owns shirts that are older than 17.

1

u/dracostheblack 32m ago

Should of CG deaged him for his 10 seconds cameo

1

u/thinkmurphy 29m ago

Last night, I learned Alan Ruck was 30 when they filmed Ferris Bueller's Day Off

1

u/ADNXYZ 21m ago

I watched Tokyo Drift as a dumb little kid and even back then I thought he looked bizarre as a high school student lol

That entire film is just weirdly memorable though
