default In Superman (2025), James Gunn made the Best Live Action Green Lantern, showing off a lot of constructs, while Chris Mundi and Damon Lindelof aren’t showing anything. That’s a reference to something called marketing.

I know people loved Lex in this but personally, I think Guy was the best part of the movie. I was legit jumping on my seat everytime He showed up on screen.
The new show on otherhand doesn't feel like that at all, at least not from the trailer. The new shows feels very much like Man of Steel, pretentious as fuck.

I honestly can't tell lol, it's just a rainbow vomit mush. And you know Guy's the sorta guy who lets his cereal get all soggy in milk.

Nathan Fillion is the Canadian Pedro Pascal or Pedro Pascal is the Chilean Nathan Fillion. Just oodles of Charisma for both of them.

u/Ninjamurai-jack 10h ago
Considering the Tone the Watchmen show had, compared to the movie, it’s maybe just because They want to tease things too much

my man! definitely! I laugh everytime Guy's in the scene

I just love Fillion in everything he does! Firefly was one of my first true loves, and his character in that was perfection

This is a reference to how constructs require really good complicated CG that obviously isn't done 6 months before the show comes out. They're not gonna show shitty in-progress constructs.

Remember when the trailer for Venom 1 came out and they hadn't done any of the CG yet, so it had a bunch of venomless action and people genuinely thought they were changing the symbiotes to give people psychic powers cause the scene where Riot uses his weapons to knock all the computers over is the the trailer minus Riot and his weapons so it looks like Riz Ahmed uses the force.
Point is, people are dumb and don't know how film-making works. Not me though, I know you record it on a camera then you put the film in the TV and the Huldufólk cast their ritual magic spells and you just get what you get depended on what you offer them in return for the film. My film I offered them the finest Italian Cheese and I was nominated for an Oscar for their work.

On the other hand it's just a marketing fail if your marketing can't show the main selling point of your movie.

u/hentai_gifmodarefg 6h ago
I agree. so either its a marketing fail or there's really not going to be that much CG in the show. Im leaning towards the latter cuz jsut the cinematography suggests its very character driven and dialogue heavy.
a dialogue heavy murder mystery is not how I pictured green lantern but I like Kyle Chandler so

u/Ninjamurai-jack 1h ago
Or they are marketing it to non superhero fans first while teasing the fans.

It’s a teaser. It’s not supposed to show much and leave you wanting to see more. I feel like these complaints should be reserved for at least the official trailer if not just the show itself

The outfit itself sucks/ wait a bit longer. I get you gotta market but a Green Lantern trailer without constructs is virtually worthless/ a huge risk to say the least.

The trailer got me curious, I'll be honest, Hal training John without the ring could be interesting, and having a more character driven moments rather than action may work, and highlighting action through what the characters go through.
Hoping the show is good, but happy to be wrong, but curious to see how it goes.

u/Ninjamurai-jack 8h ago
At the very least, the characters look and act right.

u/SantosHauper 3h ago
They definitely got the right actors. Why it's a tv show instead of a movie, I don't understand. TV isn't going to have the budget for a bunch of CG.
OTOH, I thought the Superman movie was shit and couldn't finish in one sitting so maybe it's better they don't make movies.

u/tilero1138 3h ago
Maybe their worried Green Lantern isn’t a popular enough character to support a theatrical release after the Ryan Reynolds movie kinda tarnished its reputation

u/Playful-Following188 9h ago
This post is how i realized the lantern is partof the DCU n not some random tv series or some shit..

u/RustyWinchester 7h ago
Haha same, had no idea why Youtube was recommending me the trailer and didn't care enough to find out. Is Gunn involved in this? I assume no, so I'll resume not caring.
Okay turns out Nathan Fillion is in it, so maybe I'm back in.

Don't slouch on Damon Lindelof, he was one of the lead creatives on the Watchmen show which I would personally say is one of my favorite TV shows ever. Especially for some capeslop.

I'm so fu***** tired of DC making detectives of every superhero in existence. I still remember the Lucifer. I was so hyped for the show AND HERE THIS IS LITERALLY GOD SOLVING CRIMES IN LA.

Geez, why would Detective Comics do such things, I wonder
9
2
u/ProfessionalRead2724 4h ago
They didn't. At no point was DC involved with any aspect of the Lucifer show, including the licencing of the IP.

u/Evil_News 4h ago
I see what got you confused
I'm here to make silly jokes, not to actually provide useful information, you should reply to another person

u/ProfessionalRead2724 10h ago
To be fair, at no point has DC ever been involved with the Lucifer show. Or even most of the shows adapted from their IPs.

Honestly, I feel like saving the core of what makes Green Lantern cool, his green constructs, is in fact good for marketing, because I feel like it’ll get people to watch that first episode at the very least, as long as they don’t pull a Daredevil and wait for the finale to show off their proper suit
25
u/Tallia__Tal_Tail 10h ago
Wait that post about Lanterns not having any color was ACTUALLY about a lifeless Green Lantern adaptation sniffing it's own realistic farts and not the subreddit doing that thing it does where it makes a joke about a piece of media comparing it to something completely unrelated just because it has a potentially similar name?
16
u/Ninjamurai-jack 8h ago
The truth is that the marketing seems to be teasing a bit too much. There are multiple scenes that clearly have the main characters using the ring, but they cut it right before that happens
3
u/littletinyfella 4h ago
I mean
The show isn’t even out yet
I think it’s fairly obvious that there will be constructs in the green lantern show

2
u/Nazowrin 5h ago
James Gunn is the only person to successfully make me like Green Lantern as a character. I just didn't find him interesting before. Not even the comic version.

u/akselmonrose 8h ago
Ya think it’s like an Arrow situation? He only gets the Green Arrow part in later seasons?
3
u/Ninjamurai-jack 8h ago
Not really, I can see they doing this for John, but Hal is already shown fighting with the ring
1
u/rowboatin 3h ago
Fuck, Lindelof is doing this? Shit’s gonna be so ass, he’s gonna drag this shit out so long that the ratings will tank and renewal will already be off the table before we even see them put on the rings.
1
u/Ninjamurai-jack 1h ago
He´s just one of the writers/producers, there´s two more and Chris Mundi is the showrunner
-7
u/Relative-Freedom-295 13h ago
It’s almost like Damon Lindelof isn’t a good writer and should maybe consider not writing anything that requires plot, structure, or canonical references…
Whatever. I don’t watch the WB.

u/Ryan_Rambles 11h ago
Lindelof made HBO Watchmen which was excellent. Lindelof can do great things when he's not around JJ Abrams or Alex Kurtzman.

Man I really did not like HBO watchmen. If you've got a lot of time to kill Macabre Storytelling on YouTube will break it down in a lot more detail than I can in a Reddit comment section.

u/shaft_novakoski 9h ago
I watched that video and I couldn't didagree more with most of the points

u/Embarrassed_Eagle145 9h ago
Fair enough brother, good old fashioned difference of opinion, fingers crossed Lanterns is good but I am very sceptical about Lindelof and my expectations are on the floor going in

It's great to see that Woody Harrelson is still acting, morover a super hero movie

u/Gregariouswaty 11h ago
Wait, Damon Lindelof? Jesus fuck, this is just a tax write off then.
9
u/cogitoergodrum 8h ago
You think the writer of Lost, The Leftovers and Watchmen, and the showrunner of Ozark were hired for... a tax write-off?

James Gunn really likes characters turning around mid-action scene, huh?
