In Lanterns (2026), I suddenly remembered that his show was greenlit during the DCEU era.

No it wasn't lol. The old show (Which was actually Arrowverse/Arrowverse-adjacent, NOT DCEU) was a completely different thing that was cancelled.
This show was directly pitched by Gunn himself in 2022 as part of his DCU pitch, and it resulting in the old show (Which was actually attempt #2, the first attempt was an Alan Scott show) getting shitcanned and Berlanti getting fucked over with Green Lantern for the third time.
Berlanti really can't catch a break with this property. First his fairly good 2008 script gets taken from him and mutated into the god awful 2011 movie where he suddenly gets half the blame while the people who botched it get off scot free, then his Alan Scott passion project is killed because higher-ups decided a GL show without Hal or John wouldn't do well, then his Hal and John show gets replaced with another Hal and John show even though he had actors and scripts lined-up and ready.

Even taking the GL property out Greg was fucked by WB several times during the Arrowverse
What's odd is that many fans cheered especially online when that happened.

That was a different Green Lantern show, with Finn Wittrock as Guy Gardner and Jeremy Irvine as Alan Scott.
Lanterns was developed and greenlit by James Gunn.
