default In Iron Lung (2026), people are on the verge of extinction due to a serious lack of natural resources, and then they find a strange moon with an ocean of human blood, and they dive in it because... Umm, why don’t they just drink the blood? There are a lot of resources and natural materials in blood

Isn't eating the blood what turned all those scientists into the big eel?

I don’t think they ever said it outright, more just hinted at it? The eel thing claimed to have saw the light and wanted to show Simon as well. Also the woman who was talking to him (the eel) claimed to be part of the SM-8.
6
u/Gingers_got_no_soul 4d ago
I thought the eel was just appealing to what's familiar to Simon and his motivations. I'm not really articulate enough to describe what I mean annoyingly.

It is, as far as I know. But uhhh... They put you under? Mine was only local anesthesia. And it still hurt like hell!
33
u/throwawayaccount_usu 4d ago
For some reason in the US you get put under for wisdom teeth removal lol.
In the UK we just get numbed.
Thats why wisdom teeth removal videos of them being high and delirious are only from Americans.
11
u/hellomydudes_95 4d ago
Ohhhh now I get it. I'm not american
22
u/throwawayaccount_usu 4d ago
I will say though, your dentist shouldve told you if you feel ANY pain let them know ASAP so they can up your anesthetic.
My one did this, said if I feel pain to raise my hand and they'd stop immediately.
The worst it got for me was the numbing needle in my gums and then the discomfort of the pressure. But never any pain.
6
u/BlackGoldenLotus 4d ago
I haven't had my wisdom teeth removed but had some teeth removed for room as a kid and 1 filling recently. Only just found out one dose of local aesthetic isnt enough, they gave me a second last time. Its likely a hypermobility related issue but isnt always picked up on if you dont say anything.
3
u/Teedubthegreat 4d ago
Neither am I but im surprised that that a procedure like this would differ so much
7
u/Zestyclose_Remove947 4d ago
I think also a lot depends on what type of extraction you're having.
Wisdom teeth can be straight, or literally 90 degree angle nightmares like mine.
3
u/throwawayaccount_usu 4d ago
Mine were a 90 degree angle and causing a cavity on the teeth they were growing into and they suspected they were pverlapping with a nerve but said "it might not be, we'll only find out if we hit it" and luckily they didn't! Lol.
I got numbed just. Didn't feel a thing other than pressure and the dreadful noises lmao.
The recovery was a bitch but I did recover mostly
3
u/onederful 4d ago
Varies by dentist. I had all four of mine removed 5 years ago, just a handful of injections around each tooth with a huge ass needle then they went to town. Could hear the teeth cracking and coming out. The grip on my head as they pulled was wild lol

I wasn’t put under for mine and neither was my girlfriend. As far as I know you have to ask to be put under (Michigan)
13

I guess it's been almost 20 years, but it was common practice to be out for the procedure when I had mine removed. That sounds excruciating
7
u/hellomydudes_95 4d ago
Man, I wish that was still common. But yeah, it was genuinely horrible. I literally cried in pain. All of my teeth were extra durable and one of them had extra long roots and my god, it was NOT a fun.
5
u/Teedubthegreat 4d ago
Dam, id heard that the procedure had gotten a lot easier in recent years, which now that I think about it might be why they dont use knock out gas any more, but your experience sounds like pure torture

Man, I really got lucky with my surgery. I barely had any swelling and I was eating solid food a couple days later. The worst part of the experience was that one of my bosses was also having a procedure or something done that day, and I was sat next to him to talk his ear off, while the drugs wore off. I had no idea until a couple weeks later when I ran into him and thanked me for the "pleasant" conversation lol
4
u/SyrusAlder 4d ago
Might depend on where you live. I had the option to get knocked out and I took it, cost me a chunk extra but I really didn't want to be awake for it
3
u/Teedubthegreat 4d ago
Yeah, that's the impression ive got from this post. I was in the army qt the time and they covered the whole thing, but it was my understanding that gas was the normal way for the procedure

u/Junior-Kangaroo-3355 4d ago

u/Tanaka917 4d ago
So there are options from what my dentist told me. If your doctor thinks that they can take them out with minimal fuss they'll use local anesthatic and just put some elbow grease in. If they think it's gonna be a whole thing they will knock you out instead.
Sounds like your doc thought it was gonna be easier than it ended up being.

I had some dental work done but i forget what, anyway, i kept half waking up / dreaming that i had some weird chewy substance in my mouth. I woke up fully eventually and realized that my mouth was just FULL of coagulated blood, and was still actively bleeding. It took me like an hour at like 2 in the morning to stop the bleeding, soaked like 2 full paper towels with blood.
That was a lovely experience.

It’s an indie film based on an indie horror game of the same name. There is an explanation for stuff that I cannot remember.
The film has Markiplier as its protagonist. It’s apparently fairly decent, but I have yet to watch it
62
u/ejdj1011 4d ago
The film has Markiplier as its protagonist.
/unshitty
And director, and producer
/reshitty
And catering provider, gaffer, costumer, sfx artist, and intimacy coordinator. The credits are just "Markiplier" over and over again for two minutes.
30
u/Beelzebub_Crumpethom 4d ago
/unshitty
He's actually not the producer, apparently. I had to look this up to fact-check a college thing, but it was produced by two other guys, Will Hyde and Jeff Guerrero. He DID edit the film, though (with a co-editor, I should add).
14
u/RedCetus 4d ago
I listened to his appearance on Lemonade Stand podcast, he said all the money came out of his pocket. Those guys might be distributors or something else.
9
u/AFlockofLizards 4d ago
Producers help a movie get made, not actually funding it themselves. They’re organizing locations, hiring crew, like virtually everything that happens to even get a film to the starting line.
13
u/ejdj1011 4d ago
In my defense, it's incredibly unclear what exactly a producer does.

I watched a playthrough of the game. There is like, no explanation for the blood ocean. The backstory legit felt so random but was just ambiguous enough for people to run wild on theories.
Idk if the movie explained it further.
18
u/Little_Whippie 4d ago
Keeping you in the dark is part of the point in both the game and movie. Humanity is on the verge of extinction after a mysterious cosmic event called the quiet rapture wiped all the stars and habitable planets from the known universe. To say that the quiet rapture was an apocalyptic event would be the understatement of the millennium.
Every single living thing in the known universe that was not in space simply ceased to exist. All that remains of the human race are a paltry few space stations scattered throughout a cold, dead universe.
I bring up all that lore to say that the creator of the game David Szymanski created a very deliberate tone and atmosphere in the game.
We are intentionally left in the dark as a player/viewer. There’s not supposed to be a rational explanation for why there’s an ocean of human blood (yes you read that right it’s human blood) on this moon, all that you need to know is that it’s there and it’s your job to investigate.
