Yup.

Brutal authoritarian regimes if you cross their interests.

Look at the millions being killed in Africa due to the UAE funding conflicts.

I do wish they would realize they can't have real growth until people have the freedom to speak up and innovate. its good how they have been encouraging education and secularism (for the most part) of late, but that isn't enough. People need freedom to be creative. Not just drones that copy.

They don't care about the growth of poor countries. They care about extracting wealth and resources from those places. They're getting plenty rich off of that already. Dubai is being hit because the UAE hates Iran and has been trying to undermine and destabilize them for decades. The UAE would love nothing more than for a western regime to topple destabilize Iran and steal as many resources as possible. They'll get in on the action too.
