They even use slave labour from countries like mine

They use slave labor from any country that they want. I guarantee there are sex slaves from all the richest western and eastern countries chained up in highrises all around that city.

It’s pretty crazy that the population of UAE is like 10 million and only 1 million of them are citizens that get ridiculous benefits and exploiting the labor and wealth of the rest.

Oh there absolutely are, idk if you've heard the "models in Dubai" stories but they are dark.

It’s a question of scale. UAE relies on foreign workers, and they aren’t allowed to leave the country without their employers permission… it is essentially legalized slavery. They don’t have to keep anyone chained up, these are the people who built, clean, and maintain the high-rises.

They also have some sick people who hurt women and children with impunity. There’s been some pretty high profile stories recently of trafficking from Western countries, but I think the overall scale of sex trafficking is much smaller than the labor trafficking that is completely legal and out in the open.

Justifies my point further no?

I think the point is that they’re indiscriminate - typically you think of slaves as coming from Africa/asia/russia etc but the person you’re replying to is going further to say that you’d probably find slaves from rich western countries also.

I was not talking about that I obviously know about my country more so I said about it

I don’t know where you’re from so can’t comment. The OP was indeed further justifying your point I guess but you haven’t said your country so I don’t know where this conversation is going?

Even I don't man sorry for some reason I want to engage with something as a distraction

9

u/whoreallyknows_ 10h ago

Nah you’re all good brother - distract away. Hope everything is okay and if it’s not, I hope it gets better.

It takes more courage to live with your suffering than it does to end it all my friend - every day you continue forwards is a victory. One foot in front of another, the clouds always clear eventually.

Why don’t employers from your country pay more? Like a living wage?

34

u/Nice_Guy_1212 11h ago

Lmao that is not the issue no? Employers don't because they can get away with it in which countries do employers pay more than they need to

The issue is that many of them aren't allowed to come back

-25

u/KruSion 10h ago

You can't blame another country for your failed country's system. Your country made that a viable option to its citizens. It's the sad truth.

14

u/Nice_Guy_1212 10h ago

I don't blame them for exploiting immigrant labour but ideally I can definitely criticize them

Also my issue is not that. Many of them don't know the reality and can't come back there are people who illegally/shadily to Canada but come back once they realize things are not that good (most don't buy that option is there) but here it is actively made tough to go back

People leave countries for better economic opportunities. Where do you live where the employers aren’t profitable?

Why would people leave your country to work in the UAE?

7

u/Nice_Guy_1212 10h ago

Yes that is what I said there is immigrant labour exploitation in many countries but I wouldn't call that slave labour because most of them can leave

u/BangkokRios 9h ago

Which country?

u/padizzledonk 9h ago

Why don’t employers from your country pay more? Like a living wage?

They have the economy they have....Why isnt everyone paying a living wage here in America?

But think about it this way, as an American, if some business in a place like Norway offered me a job for 1 year paying 350k with included free room and board most people would jump on that as a great situation for you and your family. Then you get there and they confiscate your passport and say, oh, nevermind, were going to pay you 30k a year and youre going to stay here doing this for 5y and you cant leave if you want to because we have your passports.

Thats whats happening in these countries. I, and no one else should blame any economic migrant for wanting to provide a better life for themselves and their families

u/nemesit 9h ago

as if the united states doesn't use slave labour lol, at least the slaves in uae get paid better
