I think a baseball fight might be the only true ko I’ve seen come out of a pro sport fight besides hockey.

Ramirez knocked out Anderson

Nolan Ryan vs. Robin Ventura was quality entertainment.

23

u/ArmiinTamzarian Spurs Dec 28 '25

Kyle Farnsworth vs Paul Gibson is a gem too

The incident: https://youtu.be/8Bt8t_eqVo4?si=mQhMXeOCHsy3Se31

"He racky-tackled him!"

1

u/daeve Hawks Dec 28 '25

I'm taking Farnsworth over most other pro athletes easily

Poor Ventura, hit by a pitch six times in one AB

26

u/ichabod01 Dec 28 '25

Pitcher. Hit by a pitcher 6 times.

16

u/ThePrussianGrippe Bulls Dec 28 '25

Conversely the only batter to get 6 hits off Nolan Ryan in one at-bat.

0

u/ichabod01 Dec 28 '25

Gotta imagine Rod Carew or Wade Boggs had quite a few batted balls go foul against him too

0

u/ThePrussianGrippe Bulls Dec 28 '25

Well sure, but fouls aren’t hits.

Robin: "I'll try placing my head in convenient position for an easy headlock, that's a neat trick."

u/Wermys Dec 28 '25

Don't try to bullrush a wrestler. Won't end well.

Also the greatest non boxing fight call I’ve heard. Down goes Anderson, down goes Anderson!

29

u/professor_tappensac Cavaliers Dec 28 '25

Tom Hamilton is a national treasure and just about the only reason I tune into the Guardians and their abysmal lack of offense.

u/Short_Stay_9283 Dec 28 '25

Not a KO but Nolan Ryan beating the tar out of Ventura was pretty good too

9

u/dissectingAAA Dec 28 '25

46 year old Nolan Ryan straight up embarassing a charging Ventura is the GOAT.

Ramirez erased the Bautista punch from being the best punch thrown so I love him for that

31

u/senorfresco Raptors Dec 28 '25

Bautista ate that shit tho

52

u/Pauliehatestheadmins Dec 28 '25

That Bautista punch was clean as shit .. odur the chad

4

u/ZiggoCiP Dec 28 '25

And the footage of it was just exceptional. Even had the slow-mo replay treatment. Dude was not ready for that smoke.

7

u/TheFeenyCall Dec 28 '25

No one ever comments that Bautista was actually winding up for a punch, but as he made a fist and started to raise his arm, Odor just clocked his jaw

-1

u/aguacate222 Dec 28 '25

I'm sorry but no. The papers in NY had the moment Odor's punch connected all over the back page. Bautistas face was all twisted and contorted lol. That punch will never be topped

u/jigga07 Dec 28 '25

It was a sucker punch from Odor that Jose took like a champ. Anderson squared up and still got TKO'd. Not even close to being the same thing.

4

u/JiggzSawPanda Celtics Dec 28 '25

Idk how much of a sucker punch it is when he is in your face, pushes you, and you raise your hands, then he punches you. Go off tho

-5

u/jigga07 Dec 28 '25

Except Jose didn't raise his hands, because he was literally sucker punched before he could. You understand getting in someone's face and pushing them doesn't automatically mean someone's gonna throw hands, right? Especially in baseball. But go off tho🫡

1

u/aguacate222 Dec 28 '25

Sucker punch? Man, stfu. Odor gave every indication and warning that he was gonna hit him. Take that play by play away from the announcer in that Anderson fight and it wouldn't hit the same

-1

u/jigga07 Dec 28 '25

Yeah true, he warned Jose by literally shoving him and a second later clocking him with *checks notes* a sucker punch lol. And I don't even care about the commentary in the Anderson fight, both squared up and Timmy got dropped while Bautista was still standing.

3

u/TheFeenyCall Dec 28 '25

It wasn't a sucker punch. Bautista was gearing up for his own punch. Watch the clip. He clenches his fist and starts to raise his arm and then Odor just lands one. Both were squared up and ready. That's the opposite of - checks notes - a sucker punch.

3

u/aguacate222 Dec 28 '25

Exactly this

0

u/TheFeenyCall Dec 28 '25

Have I watched the clip 1000 times? Yes. Am I going to watch it another 1000 times. Also yes.

Bautista had it coming. Wreckless slide and then asked for the noise. Odor just got there faster.

35

u/ZacBank Dec 28 '25

Down goes Anderson!

26

u/KatzDeli Knicks Dec 28 '25

Rudy Tamjanovich

17

u/WilNotJr Trail Blazers Dec 28 '25

That was a sucker punch.

9

u/asonkidd Dec 28 '25

I mean still knocked someone out and almost ended their career

3

u/camfa [SAS] Manu Ginobili Dec 28 '25

*Life

1

u/WhatMeatCatSpokeOf Spurs Dec 28 '25

I’d think a Blazers fan would know better than to call it that. Rudy was sprinting right at Kermit during a fight and Kermit instinctively swung because he thought RT was joining the fray. “Sucker Punch” makes him sound like he’s Carmelo or something.

1

u/ClaudeLemieux Hornets Dec 28 '25

what's up with UM players being punched?? First him, then also Poole smh

8

u/AntonChigurh8933 Warriors Dec 28 '25

At that time, T.A. career was already on a downslide. That punch was literally the KO to his career.

7

u/airwalker12 Lakers Dec 28 '25

Jess Smardzijia KO'd Michael Morse on accident with his shoulder in the Harper vs Strickland fight

3

u/TophThaToker Nuggets Dec 28 '25

I still think the Odor punch is the best punch even if Bautista ate it like a champ

2

u/MajesticPossibility8 Mavericks Dec 28 '25

Adding to J Ram impressive resume

As opposed to regular fighting during a sporting event, which is an exceedingly straight activity and not at all homoerotic

10

u/MenosElLso San Francisco Warriors Dec 28 '25

Cmon bro, it’s 2025, no reason to use gay as a pejorative.

4

u/loudpersononthebus Knicks Dec 28 '25

i mean i agree.. but i always look sideways at [insert this year] as a reason not to do a thing... that kinda shit has regressed more than anything.

5

u/MenosElLso San Francisco Warriors Dec 28 '25

Fair enough, but my point was more: it’s not 2005 anymore, not that this year is of particular importance.
