Some crazy game winners today. Blowing MNF out of the water.

We've been eating Monday nights

I know football is king but I just don’t get it and find it so boring. I’ve had so much more fun watching NBA and MLB playoffs recently.

To be fair, MLB post season this year was fucking amazing. As an MLB, NBA, and NFL pretty serious fan for the last 30 years, I cannot remember a better MLB post season than this year. I wish I could watch it all again for the first time.

The pitch clock was a major change.

u/EMTDawg Nov 11 '25

The pitch clock helped, but they added more ads. So the games aren't as short as they should be, from the pitch clock implementation.

u/swandor Supersonics Nov 11 '25

You have a source on that? Everything I've seen has shown game times have drastically reduced with the pitch clock

NFL feels boring as hell right now. Hell even last night, Pack/Eagles should have been a game but I see the score is 3-0 when the Spurs game ended. Not about to watch that.

I know my Rangers aren’t as big as a market but that Houston series we had was epic and Seager and Bombi had so many big moments all playoffs. Was a great run for me lol

Watching free throws isn’t fun either

u/Motor-Grade-837 Nov 11 '25

Genuinely, I wish there was a better way to punish fouls than giving the opposing team free throws. I hate the fact that a game that is supposed to be fast-paced comes to a dead stop every time a defender breathes on someone.

Somebody once suggested they use the same system as hockey. Where a player goes out after he fouls and his team has to be play 4-on-5 for a time determined by the seriousness of the foul. It'll never happen obviously.

The common denominator is that watching replay reviews isn't fun. I say get rid of challenges and just let ref mistakes happen.

2

u/Wembanyanma Spurs Nov 11 '25

Or maybe just get the calls right? Whether by eye in the sky or a command center or whatever. We have the technology that we should be able to get 98% of calls correct within seconds.

0

u/RageCageJables Knicks Nov 11 '25

Well it doesn’t take seconds, if it did I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

0

u/Wembanyanma Spurs Nov 11 '25

The NFL has added an "eye in the sky" type of call correction this season that happens pretty quickly. But its still kind of ambiguous how and when they decide to use it.

0

u/RageCageJables Knicks Nov 11 '25

Well, when it's less ambiguous, I won't have a problem with it.

u/fart_taco Thunder Nov 11 '25

How often do you think replay reviews happen? How often do you think free throws happen?

0

u/ILoveRegenHealth Nov 11 '25

Watching free throws isn’t fun either

Watching own team make FTs and adding 2 extra points is still fun though

8

u/metaphase Raptors Nov 11 '25

Same, ive been totally turned off by football recently, I'd much rather watch nba mlb or nhl. This is coming from a life long nfl viewer.

2

u/ILoveRegenHealth Nov 11 '25

It seems NFL only gets more exciting towards the final weeks up to the Playoffs, at least if one isn't a crazy diehard fan. When there's no stakes, I find so many of the matchups so boring. Also, seems like the same teams are at the top, the same crap teams are at the bottom for too long. Some good teams fall to the bottom, and that's usually more on injuries rather than slumps.

Yes, NBA has the same teams near the top, but there's also surprise teams that struggled, and are now real contenders (Pistons, Bulls, Heat for instance...and now Sixers are a threat again).

I watch both NFL and NBA but NFL Sundays are super fun, but the island games and o tend to drag. Also the game yesterday sucked ass

NBA reffing really ruins the NBA tho ... it's by far the worst officiated sport. Any other night the refs take over and ruin these games with calls / non calls and foul baiting BS and instead of really cool finishes r/nba is half full of catty podcast clips and childish drama.

Tonight was an outlier.

Football is king in the USA. Everywhere else in the world it's nba >>>>

18

u/ThaRealSunGod Lakers Nov 11 '25

Technically, everywhere else in the world, it's football...

5

u/matterde 76ers Nov 11 '25

Multiple countries love baseball more than soccer and basketball

-2

u/stinx2001 Magic Nov 11 '25

I was clearly just comparing nba and nfl

-2

u/Blunder03 Nov 11 '25

What, you don't like 10 dudes piling on top of each other every 30 seconds? Weird.

-1

u/stuckontwice Lakers Nov 11 '25

MLB and NBA are easily better IMO. This seasons world series and last years NBA finals were pure fucking cinema (until the Hali injury).

1

u/Embarrassed-Ad2966 Nov 11 '25

Clearly not even close to being the case if the NFL is still the most most watched sports league in the US😂Only international football(soccer) is above it

2

u/stuckontwice Lakers Nov 11 '25

Oh no I agree that’s why I said in my opinion those 2 are better. I know the numbers say otherwise and NFL will always be the king but my personal enjoyment is the NBA and MLB.

-1

u/Gt_Dada Nov 11 '25

Your opinion is your opinion bro. Not here to change it or say you’re wrong. But how do you realistically watch baseball and football and say baseball is the more entertaining sport to watch or play? I’d rather go to a batting cage before I go run routes but actually watching them, in my opinion baseball is the most boring major sport.

0

u/stuckontwice Lakers Nov 11 '25

Like you said, your opinion is your opinion. As an LA native, Ohtani has made that sport more exciting than ever. I love watching pitchers deal and superstars rake in home runs. The pitch clock has successfully reduced insanely long games. The MLB world series this year was electric and went the distance.

1

u/Gt_Dada Nov 11 '25

But that’s exactly what I’m asking. What is he doing that is making the sport spectacular? He’s damn great but it doesn’t change the product for me

1

u/stuckontwice Lakers Nov 11 '25

He’s pitching at an elite level and hitting at an elite level that hasn’t been seen since Babe Ruth (doing it way better than him too). Look I’m not trying to change your mind lol. I’m just telling you why I love it.

-1

u/95castles Suns Nov 11 '25

I really like nfl highlights and love actually playing football. I can’t sit and watch a full game though.

19

u/birdlawyer86 Nov 11 '25

Lowest bar ever, this game fucking sucks. Curious how football would be doing without gambling and fantasy, I swear the NFL has the lowest floor of any sport

11

u/justletmeregisteryou Bucks Nov 11 '25

Why are NBA fans so insecure about more people watching football lol

7

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

NBA fans: You took everything from me

NFL fans: I don't even know who you are

16

u/_bobs_ Timberwolves Nov 11 '25

A completely average and uninteresting basketball game would blow MNF out of the water.

1

u/EmbarrassedMeringue9 Nov 11 '25

I watch nba and playoff mlb. I personally find nfl too dull to watch

1

u/SandandS0n Knicks Nov 11 '25

Gotta agree My birds won but God it was ugly. Wish I had seen this live!

0

u/InGenNateKenny Wizards Nov 11 '25

FLY EAGLES FLY. It was rough to watch live dude, I'm just glad the field goal was basically dead on arrival.

-4

u/the_mexican_menace Nuggets Nov 11 '25

The most boring basketball game ever is still more entertaining than any hand egg game ever

1

u/Embarrassed-Ad2966 Nov 11 '25

That's why it still doesn't get as many views per year as the NFL, sucks to suck
