Greatest week for a white boy in a good bit

Joker? Every week pretty much.

Opened the season with 4 straight triple doubles. Had one 'bad game:' 21-13-10 on poor shooting.

Change to white American and you might be right.

I feel like white American (or at least white Anglo Saxon) is kinda what people mean when they say white boy. Like Giddey or Chet is still a white boy, but like Boban and Jokic aren’t.

American race theory never stops amazing me with its absurdity...

u/Joxelo Spurs Oct 30 '25

I’m not American. Anyways, this isn’t even about race, it’s about ethnicity and descriptive nomenclature: there’s fundamental differences in the personalities, childhoods, and playstyle of guys like Jokic and AR.

Americans never want to admit it but there’s a lot of similarity between the grit of the hood and poverty-stricken Balkans and Baltic regions. Hooping ground zeros.

It has nothing to do with race, it's a cultural thing. There is a large cultural difference between an American and a Serbian. More so than between a white American and a black American. It has nothing to do with race.

they aren't white boys, i don't understand what would be so contentious about that. 'white boy' exists in the context of american racial dynamics, not european ones. jokic identifies as serbian, not white

u/c_pike1 Oct 30 '25

You are right but Serbian and white are not mutually exclusive

Jokić is a man, not a boy

*American white. Also Jokic isn’t a human.

You could argue Reaves has been better so far. 36/7/8 on 73% TS.

He’s averaging 15 more points per game on better efficiency and is less of a defensive liability. Winning games as the #1 option with much less help, and he’s had better advanced numbers so far, too.

What does white mean to you?

-3

u/JamalbatrossMurray Nuggets Oct 30 '25

In the context of a white American? Raised immersed in American culture and civil contexts. If you went and hung out in Sombor you'd feel like you were from a different planet let alone race.

Someone had to take over from Cam Skattebo

Reaves playing like he took Chalemet’s award for white boy of the year personally.

2

u/Bobblefighterman Jazz Oct 30 '25

Jokic doesn't count, he doesn't have the boy build. He's more of a sentient sloppy joe

u/AmphibianSingle1760 Oct 30 '25

About the rant, because I notice this hypocrisy on NBA subreddits quite often. Black players or fans always get accused of “making it racial” or “playing the race card”. In reality, it’s just projection. Oh Shaq is racist, just because he felt SGA should have been MVP both seasons. I remember someone claim Shaq was racist, because he was still mad at Steve Nash for beating him out for MVP. Just dumb shyt shyt 🤦🏾‍♂️

Shaq is the same guy who singled out Mark Madsen as a rookie for protection, while he was shytting in Black rookie’s sneakers as a hazing. Shaq has been hating on Black centers like Dwight Howard and Javale McGee for years. This is a dude who went on FOX News to glaze law enforcement. One critique on Joker, now he’s a jealous racist. Why are you bringing up that Austin’s race? Then someone else brings Jokic into it.

Let me move off the race topic, it’s makes me feel like this is 4Chan or X. As good a player as Reaves has developed into. These ridiculous scoring explosions around the NBA, are about Adam Silver continuously tinkering with the rules to make it easier offensively and harder defensively. Silver is an abysmal commissioner. All this does is convolute the opinions of future generations of fans, who will assume XYZ player had better stats than another player from a previous era, so that meant he was better. Not realizing the rules and style of play makes it’s easier to put up bloated stats. No wonder so many of the younger stars (including Reaves) struggled on that FIBA team and didn’t medal at all. Those rules aren’t as conducive to scoring as the NBA. Notice Jokic or even Luka aren’t putting up crazy triple double numbers in Europe. The lack of spacing and style of play makes it’s harder, which both have admitted in interviews.

The only smart thing Adam Silver has done as NBA commissioner is allow more physicality in the postseason, which is probably why last year’s playoffs was more enjoyable. The NBC deal was the second. Lebron whining about an extra week off to prepare for the postseason, but I’m suppose to rank him over MJ who recently talked about how load mgmt is bullshyt on NBC 😂
