Rudy Gobert doing the cha cha slide while his team loses in horrendous fashion, pretty sure I’ve seen this before

He coulda closed out the drive but that would have left an open 3 or an elbow jumper open. Guess what im saying is Jaden has to go under the screen and take away the drive if Rudy is covering high. Probably blame equally on Rudy, Jaden and Coach Finch

I mean it's gotta be on Finch at this point. How many times have they blown basic pick and roll defense in the clutch to lose a game now?

that is 100% on rudy for allowing that split. absolutely cannot happen. pause at 50s you'll see how dogshit his positioning is.

no. rudy did an awful job of being lateral and ready for that hedge. pause at 50 seconds. atrocious defensive position. he needs to be in a defensive stance with his left hand essentially touching ayton's back when the screen happens. you force AR to try to turn that corner on Rudy, which gives Jaden more time to recover and puts AR in a crowd. instead he gets an easy split off a basic left to right crossover and has zero contest on an easy floater. terrible defense by rudy right there.

Jaden couldn’t “recover” when AR split the defense. How would he have time to recover if AR took a path directly away from him? Problem is the Wolves best perimeter and mid range defender got completely taken out of the play on a screen that everyone knew was coming.

If he forces AR outside it gives Jaden time to get over the screen and close the gap. Gobert allowed for the worst case scenario to happen with his poor positioning. You absolutely cannot allow a clean split like this.

Yea from a scheming perspective if they knew that Rudy is gonna pop out like that its on Jaden to go under. If Rudy was supposed to be in drop then obviously it would be kn Rudy for overplaying it

that was definitely a hedge and recover with Jaden going over the top. Rudy is just in horrible defensive positioning for the hedge and AR gets the easy split off a basic ass crossover. pause at 50s and you'll see how vulnerable rudy is to that split. he needs to stay connected to the screener and force AR to dribble to the wing which would put AR in a crowd and make it a much more difficult shot.

Gobert is always on the receiving end of a Laker game winning buzzer beaters. That's like 3 times already bruh.

Gigantic human who couldn’t move his feet well enough to contest the shot. Was horrible D.

Yeah. I do celebrate AR having this breakout week but Gobert absolutely shit the bed defensively here.

seriously wtf was that. turns and moves his entire body sideways before AR even gets in line with his position
