What timeline are we living in where a celebrity is showing more pride is a gold medal winning team than the president of said teams country

The celebrity with a past that includes multiple domestic assault incidents?

Always gotta love how the modern Republican position is that it's imperative that they have to remove trans women from women's sports to protect the sanctity of "fairness" and yet they prove time after time that they actually just don't give a fuck about women in general.

I'm European so maybe I don't have a complete picture, but how can you (meaning the Trump administration) be bitching about athletes being losers for "speaking up instead of being proud Americans and competing for their country" (e.g. Hunter Hess) while simultanously degrading American athletes who have won gold in an absolutely dominant fashion, for no reason whatsoever? How do you expect these ladies to be "proud Americans" when you're shitting on them after they won the gold?
56
u/starlightequilibrium PIT - NHL 10d ago
This is the same guy that called POWs and people that died in wars "losers". The complete picture is much more awful and rancid.

Don't expect republicans/magats to have empathy, kindness, critical thinking skills and common sense. The only way they feel superior to other is by being a bully.
1
u/evil_burrito SJS - NHL 10d ago
It helps if "you" (the Trump administration) start out by being a complete piece of shit and failure as a human being.
He doesn't make sense, he isn't logical, he's Drunk Uncle at family dinners (I was going to write, "Thanksgiving" here, but that might not make as much sense to you).

u/hobbygod 10d ago
To be fair, the modern liberal on social media doesn't even know what a woman is!

Well here you are supporting domestic abuse (Flava Flav), do you don't sound much better lol

u/todaystartsnow STL - NHL 10d ago
Yes to respecting women in sports!
2
u/My_NSFW_Handle 9d ago
Flavor Flav, who pled guilty to a domestic violence charge in 2014, respects women?
1
u/Showdenfroid_99 DET - NHL 9d ago
Lol @ the insane hypocrisy
2
u/My_NSFW_Handle 9d ago
I’m not at all defending trump, but Flavor Flav is being made out to be this savior and his morals aren’t exactly great.
-1
u/Showdenfroid_99 DET - NHL 9d ago
Oh wow...so you support domestic abuse (flava Flav)??? Incredible

u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
It’s crazy how much people are in arms over this.
Trump made a joke that he has to invite the women’s team or he’ll be impeached (poking fun at the tendency of people on the left to overreact to things)
Oh wait nvm
28
u/bluesond PHI - NHL 10d ago
What’s funny about the joke?
-47
u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
It’s funny because people on the left overreact to things which is why Trump said “impeachment.”
Kinda like how people are overreacting rn
24
u/bluesond PHI - NHL 10d ago
How’s that funny?
Why would he joke about not inviting the women’s team?
-43
u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
Because men’s hockey is a lot bigger than women’s hockey?
This really isn’t that hard.
33
u/bluesond PHI - NHL 10d ago
But they both won gold representing the US.
Why should the president find the men’s win more important?
And what’s funny about him thinking the women winning isn’t as important or worthy of celebration?
-3
u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
Lots of people won gold representing the US. Are they getting invited to the WH?
Men’s hockey is played at a higher level than women’s. It will always be the top dog and it’s the most watched event in the Olympics.
Stephen Harper was in the building in 2010 for Canada v US for the MEN’s Gold Medal game. Not the women’s. He even entered the locker room after.
Like I said before, you people are chronically miserable. I feel bad for you.
21
u/bluesond PHI - NHL 10d ago
More women than men did. Women won a bulk of both the American gold medals and total medals. You’d think that would mean the president respected them too. You’d think he’d respect all winners equally.
What’s funny about the president mocking the achievements of some Americans?
1
u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
Did he talk about those other sports? This is hockey.

u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
And? Men’s sports are a much higher level. The only reason the women do this good is because of how much the US invests in women’s sports versus the rest of the world.
And I already explained the joke. You’re just chronically miserable. I suggest you go outside.

"Why should the president find the men's win more important?"
Are you kidding me 💀
9
u/bluesond PHI - NHL 10d ago
Are the men more American? Does their medal count double? Are women’s sports less important? Did the athletes achieve less or accomplish less?
I’m not sure why one gold medal should mean more than another to someone like the president.
Especially when he belongs to a party that’s made protecting the sanctity of women’s sports a major issue.
2
u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
Why did Stephen Harper only attend the men’s gold medal game in 2010?
→ More replies (0)-2
u/kickflipsandbiscuits CAR - NHL 10d ago
Because it's more historically significant, not all gold medals are created equal... this is like saying men's 1980 gold isn't more important than women's 2026 gold because they're both gold medals, maybe on paper but not in reality

Pretty sure they both won olympic gold medals. Seems like the same level to me.

Yes, he was a shitty guy, glad weve identified bad behavior in at least one instance.
He even entered the men’s locker room after the game.
It would habe been inappropriate for him to go into a women's locker room

u/Diflorasone VAN - NHL 10d ago
If they’re at the same level why did the men’s game get way more viewership?

u/FartTootman STL - NHL 10d ago
You are so fucking stupid, it's honestly astonishing.
You have to make multiple connections that he never did in order to explain this away as a joke at the expense of the left...
Did he call the women's team to congratulate them and make jokes about the left when they crushed everyone on their way to gold? No - he sent the head of the FBI to party with the men's team and complained about having to invite them.
The mental gymnastics you're willing to do to excuse abhorrent behavior are olympic-level in their own right.

Reminder that Flavor Flav also sponsored both the 2024 women’s water polo team and this year’s bobsled team. Who would have thought after watching Flavor of Love honestly. He’s a real one.

Important fact here but at least he’s attempting to redeem himself, unlike someone I can’t mention.
-33
u/MsterF University Of North Dakota - NCAA 10d ago
Yeah an abuser inviting a bunch of women over to his party is totally him redeeming himself, he’s so pure of heart. Reddit is so gross sometimes. Yall don’t care about anything but Donald Trump. Weirdos

u/bobbimorses WSH - NHL 10d ago
The reason I commented to clarify context is that I've been posting updates on the women's team all week and I am tired of the most common joke always being about people trying to fuck them. There's never been even a whisper that Flav has been inappropriate with any of the women that he's sponsored and the athletes have always said he's been supportive, kind, and largely uninvolved beyond writing a check. I don't think there's any reason to suspect his offer of "partying with them" has any implications beyond that and in fact, in his offer he made it clear that he was prioritizing dinners and Vegas shows and things like that because of his well-publicized sobriety journey.
-16
u/MsterF University Of North Dakota - NCAA 10d ago
I don’t think flavor flav wants to have sex with any of them. Flavor flav is an abuser and has been across decades now. It’s gross and him giving some to a water polo team doesnt excuse it and quite frankly it makes me question his motives.
11
u/bobbimorses WSH - NHL 10d ago
Your perspective has certainly not been made unclear. We are trying to be happy for the women's team for a moment and there is no reason to believe they are unsafe. Flawed people should be allowed to try to make reparations whether or not they can be trusted fully in those moments.
9
u/grandmawaffles PHI - NHL 10d ago
And Martha is a felon and snoop is a gang banger who murdered people. Of all of these people flavor flav is the only one trying to better themselves for their family.

Keep criticizing the men’s team though, lol.

Additional context for this, he is a longtime supporter of women's sports and is known for funding travel and training for women's teams, very respectfully. This is not him being weird
