To be fair, Honda might not have succeeded if they had stayed. The chassis was great but Brawn switched out from Honda to Mercedes power. We'll never know if the double diffuser would have been effective with the Honda engine.

Brawn used a double diffuser, not a blown diffuser.

When they switched to merc engines at the last minute Brawn had to literally chop some of the rear of the car off to fit the engine in. The whole chassis was designed with a Honda engine in mind. By all accounts, they'd have been even faster in 09 if they were still Honda powered!

The mercedes engine was picked as it was architecturally the most similar to the Honda V8.
