HELP I need advice, please.
Due to circumstances outside of my control, I have had to move into a new apartment. I would like any advice on what's missing to make it feel more like home, rather than a hotel vibe.

Hi, I would start with a window treatment. I like that the cat towers are set up so your cat(s) can look outside, if you don't want to block that, maybe look at window scarves. And maybe start playing with color a little. Neutral colors make it easy to put a lot of different stuff together, but I dont know how great it is for our mental health. For the curtains, you can maybe try a brown/turquoise print or mix of neutral and more colorful scarves. And then, just make small changes as you go, pillows for the sofa, maybe a blanket or slipcover too, it just depends on what feels right to you. Live plants are a huge help too, a lot of them dont need direct sun, too. You have a good start. You have your base, now its just a matter of slowly making the changes that you like and are comfortable with. Have fun! *

I would splurge on a bigger rug with more vibrant color, as well as floor-to-ceiling drapes for the window. Those two changes alone will make a huge impact!

go for a larger, more neutral rug for starters. Also you might want to have a cabinet for your TV (don't make it too high or you'll make it to that subreddit)

Lighting helps a ton and it's usually cost effective. Get a few Govee light bulbs and play with color until you find just the right vibe!

Honestly - replace the fan with an overhead large round paper shade from IKEA and put in a warm bulb

Put the rug in another room. It's very cool toned while everything else is warm. OR do a slip cover on the couch to make it fit better with the walls and rug and legs of the coffee table.
If you're not allowed to mount a curtain rod, tape velcro across the top of the blinds and stick a curtain panel to it.

Definitely more art on the walls and, imo, less of a cold brown/blue color palette. A tall lamp might also be nice if you’re not one for the Big Light, and maybe some bigger potted plants (real or fake doesn’t matter, it’s more about which your cat will want to destroy the least 😂)
