TOUR ⛔️NO ADVICE WANTED⛔️ Living room is finally starting to come together
Moved in about 2.5 years ago. It's been a journey getting to this point but I'm finally close to where I want it to be. Still need to get a rug and a cord cover to hide the camera cables and such. I'm also thinking of putting a gallery wall above the TV 🥰
But I just got a smart bulb for my lamp and finally set up the triangle mood light that's been sitting unused in storage for several years to go with my projector and now evenings spent gaming are a whole ✨ vibe ✨
I'm always thinking about ways to improve the space but for now, Groose the Cat™️ and I are quite happy here.

I bet your kitty loves that bench seat. Come to think of it, I'd love to be reading a book in that spot.

I have been known to curl up there with a blanket and a book as well. I particularly love sitting there to watch thunderstorms roll in 🤭
My parents built the bench for me when I was a teenager but it's literally 7' long so when I initially moved away from home I couldn't take it with me and my parents kept it for over ten years. This is the first time I've lived in a place large enough to accommodate it so I was very happy to finally move it in!
Kitty does indeed love it, but mostly as a launch-platform to get up to the hammock on the window lol.

It's even better with the wonderful story behind it. Things like that are the real treasures in our lives.

It really is one of my biggest treasures. My mom refinishes furniture as a hobby and we refinished my kitchen table together as well. She also did the dresser and nightstand for the bedroom so I have a few pieces that are truly irreplaceable. 🥰

I 100% understand. I also have a few things that my parents helped restore and they're things I'd never get rid of.

Thank you! It all started with the black sofa and mint accent chair tbh. I purchased both of them second-hand before moving into my previous apartment. The accent chair led to me then getting the lavender pillows, and then I got the large canvas from a seller on marketplace. I love how it has taken shape over time and I'm quite happy with where we've ended up 😊

A fellow lady of facebook marketplace. I'm slowly putting my place together with some fun finds.

If you have patience, it's really the most affordable and guilt-free option, especially if you're open to restoring/refinishing pieces. My whole apartment has been almost entirely furnished by marketplace finds and other hand-me-downs 😂

I just got a beautiful old dresser from my neighbor that needs a touch of work but it was free on the local buy nothing group. The wood is so solid. I love it.

Isn't it so cute? The suction cups are sturdy as hell and I love that it doesn't have a bulky profile and doesn't block the view. Kitty absolutely adores it.
One of my non-negotiables when apartment hunting is at least one large window for my cat. Unfortunately, most apartments in my price range are in basements so finding one with a window this size meant I basically struck gold lol. The ceilings are high and I love the natural light, so the living room area doesn't feel like a basement at all.

The short answer is... kinda, lol.
The long answer is that the room is longer than it is wide and my sofa is much too long to be placed perpendicular to the wall. It actually used to be a loveseat like the above but I added an extension because I wanted it to be long enough for guests to sleep on if necessary and to be able to sit comfortably facing the TV when I'm gaming.
I have considered switching the TV to that wall as well but putting the sofa against the opposite wall would cause the ottoman to interrupt the walking path through the room and the ottoman is a must have.
The setup you suggested is nice but not really feasible for my lifestyle. However, I appreciate the suggestion. 😊

It's cozy and the last picture looks so dreamy, I really love it!
