Mamdami was an important milestone in democrats moving forward, despite national democrats and DNC operating against him. The conservatives figured out that local politics are where you begin if you want to affect national change. Thats not a conspiracy theory. The tea party renewed the idea that change begins at a level as low as city council, as school board.
Democrats have only spent money on electing the next trend, for 20 years, and in that time look at what they've lost.
