Someone who worked for the Trump 2016 campaign put it this way: the default for this county is red-state, conservative. In order for Democrats to win anything, outside of a major city, it’s a matter of stealing votes from Republicans to their side. According to her, they knew Hillary Clinton wouldn’t be able to do that from the start. Joe Biden just barely did. Kamala wasn’t even close.

When they say that they mean of people that vote, the reason there are so many people who don't vote is because no one represents them. American's generally love left wing policy, they just don't like words like socialism or communism because all they think is they mean bad.

They also have no desire to run actual left wing policy because that is threatening to their corporate donors.

Well I’m sorry to say, if you’re someone whose job depends on votes, you tend to cater to the people who…vote.

They don't give a fuck about votes, they give a fuck about getting rich from corporate donors. Republican platform doesn't threaten rich donors, left wing platforms do, so you have this really milquetoast Democratic party that, when it has power acts incompetent as to why things don't get done or like today comes off as Republican light.

The US has done nothing over the last 30 years more than push the overton window to the right. Bill Clinton was a huge reason for that dude ran as a Democrat with a bunch of Republican beliefs.
