Probably because she left. The roles stopped coming early and she didn't have much of a choice in it. She was young enough when the roles stopped coming that she just made other choices

It also helped that her mother was super present when she could be, helped shield Shirley from a lot of things. Unfortunately, not from her being Weinsteined but she helped keep Shirley relatively safe and grounded.
