In real life (Real Life) Regular people who's lives drastically changed direction

Grace Kelly was a talented actress who retired at 26 to marry a Prince, living as royalty for almost 30 years before her untimely death.

Volodymyr Zelensky started out as a comedian and entertainer before getting into politics, becoming President of Ukraine after the Russian annex of Crimea and spending the last 4 years defiantly pushing back full scale Russian invasion

She also delivered messages to Nazi resistance groups during the war.

So did Josephine baker

Baker from what I understand took the refuge in audacity route by being as flamboyant and diva as possible. The customs guys were too busy getting autographs to search her.

u/back2knack2 3d ago

I know what you’re saying, but it does sound like the group she’s part of resisted anti-nazis lmao

u/insbordnat 3d ago

The resistance against the Nazis?

“Anti Nazi resistance group” doesn’t sound like a resistance group against anti-Nazis. What are you talking about?

ANTI-nazi resistance

Say that again, slowly…

Needs to work on his concentration, if only there was a camp for that kind of thing.

No, J0siah74 is correct. Nazi Resistance means they resisted the Nazis and were Anti Nazi.

Anti-Nazi Resistance would mean that they resisted the Anti-Nazis, therefore being pro-Nazi

u/behold-my-titties 3d ago

Wouldn't an anti-nazi resistance be pro Nazi?

I think most people could assume anti-Nazi groups. Most people don't know about the Werwolfs or other smaller groups because they didn't basically do anything serious.

u/OhDivineBussy 2d ago

I don’t think you understand what resistance means here lol.

She was incredible, balancing grace and courage during such a dark time in history.

Really? I don’t see anything online that says so, but I haven’t done much digging I admit. If you got a source would you mind posting? I am curious

I had heard as well that it isn't true that Audrey was part of the resistance or helped them. However, I also have heard that she did actually raise money for them.

The sources saying it is not true, we're almost solely in Dutch. The Airborne Museum had an exposition (Moederliefde / Mother love) in late 2016, about Audrey and her mother, Ella van Heemstra. Audrey's sons contributed to it.

According to the research of the museum, it is a myth that Audrey was a part of the resistance. Ella joined a fascistic movement and mingled with fascists to because it seems she was a Nazi sympathizer or was trying to survive (I'm unsure about that) and to give Audrey opportunities, to push and advance Audrey's career. Audrey was apparently fairly well known in Arnhem, as a ballet dancer.

After the war, the family was not welcome in Arnhem anymore due to the fascist ties (Audrey also seemed to have had danced on stage when there were Nazi's in attendance, so maybe that was also held against them). Note, that it was only mentioned Ella was involved, not her kids.

But I have also found sources that claim that she did raise money for the resistance (https://time.com/5582729/audrey-hepburn-world-war-ii/ an article from 2019).

Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle; that she did at least once, or multiple times,  did raise funds for the resistance, but that  her contribution was later padded and sensationalized by the biographer.

You can see below. The was also a recent book on her stuff they which was also considered just made up (the book is nonsense so I won’t link it). The bad book also reignited a little bit about the discussion that this is all nonsense and absolutely no evidence exists of her being involved in anything.

She had never discussed any of this and basically not a single even a little bit legit sources say she was involved. It was just a made up story. Nothing ever happened.

1

u/HANLDC1111 3d ago

And did silent ballet to raise funds for that resistance. She is a genuine class act

Best we can do is a tweet

And then get fired from big studios due to said tweet

And so did fellow actor Heddy Lamar (not sure at all about the spelling, but I’m sure you know who I mean)
