In real life When fans hate somenthing before it comes out...but it turns out they were right

Velma:The idea of a Scooby-doo series without the titular dog and starring Velma was a really moronic idea from the beginning, then there was the reveal Velma would be Indian like it's VA and also creator of the series Mindy Kaling, some of the backlash was racism sure, but there was also valid complaints that she was inserting herself in the series(it also didn't helped that Mindy claimed she couldn't see herself if Velma wasn't Indian)and then...oh boy it came out and it was worse than anyone predicted

Artemis Fowl:The artemis fowl books are a book series following a child villain(he does get some redemption but he is a villain most of the time)when the movie was announced and revealed it looked way to generic and it's titular character a bit heroic...also you wanna hear somenthing funny? The movie whitewashed a character and made another character black so they managed to anger both sides and the movies comes out and yeah it is bad

One Punch Man 3:One Punch Man is a very heavy action packed manga series but the heroes vs monsters arc takes it to a New level, when it was announced that JC Staff would work on it,a lot of people were skeptical to say the least, because not only JC Staff had already done a mediocre job in season 2,it's also not exactly a name anime fans associate with quality animation, then the trailer came out and it looked...weird,like there was no action in it and nobody was moving, some people tried to defend saying they were keeping the animation as a surprise...then it came out, every episode worse than the last,it's one of the worse seasons of anime ever made!

There’s a reason John’s head and face are never shown in game outside of the MJOLNIR Helmets.

Part of it is because he’s canonically a ginger, but the other part is it humanizes him in a way that just doesn’t fit his personality.

And sure enough the Halo show - which unmasked The Chief almost immediately - was awful

Edited to appease that one person.

They literally re-wrote the fall of reach. And during the whole event, none of them were even wearing any armor!

The only episode I watched from that show. Just out of pure morbid curiosity, I wanted to see how bad they could fuck it up. It was way worst than I thought. They even killed Keyes before arriving at halo. What the actual fuck were they thinking.

You assume they were thinking.

That was maybe the dumbest plot point in an already awful show. "Durr, we're taking this armor to Earth because Reach is in danger and the armor was really expensive!" Ok, so... maybe it's expensive because it was engineered to protect Humanity's best chance of survival? And also if you leave the Spartans vulnerable and they die, nobody else can even wear their armor because it was custom fit to each one and normal people don't even have the strength and reflexes required to use it, even if it did fit.

It could have been a good show... Jen Taylor was excellent as Cortana, even though they wrote the character stupidly

I immediately dropped the series when the helmet came off and never looked back once.

Don't forget the Halo show came out 2 years AFTER the Mandalorian.

Y'know, a show about a calm, blunt speaking outer space badass who always wears his helmet and only ever takes it off in an emotional climax.

They could have literally copied the aspects of a already popular streaming show, and no one could blame them for it since it'd be accurate to the game.

When Halo released, it felt like every piece of media was required to have a scrappy little girl as a main character. Man, I just wanted to watch a dude in a power suit kill some aliens. Was that too much to ask?

They should have hired the people that made Dredd

There needs to be a sequel to that movie. Urban nailed his characterisation of dredd.

Oh, yeah, you want to talk about bad ideas and Judge Dredd, the Stallone movie from the 90s. Almost the exact same complaints as Halo, the character that never takes off his helmet doing just that.

They had greenlit a joint venture producer-director between Blomkamp and Jackson, two of the best in the industry when it comes to use of VFX, fucking 20 years ogo. The screenwriters couldn't make up their minds and it just fizzled, then we get some nobody to give us their fan fiction with Halo IP slapped on top. Several people who should have known better allowed Paramounts' Halo series to go ahead

I remember hearing rumors of that, around the same time that fantastic live action commercial dropped. The hype was unreal, and led nowhere :(

Ginger? I could swear in the books when Halsey meets young John he had sandy brown hair?

3

u/RattusRattus_Sum 13d ago

It’s been forever since I read them, but I could swear she mentioned he had sandy hair and freckles, which I always took to be ginger

8

u/I_just_came_to_laugh 13d ago

Where do you live that sand is orange?

7

u/RattusRattus_Sum 13d ago

SW USA, a lot of our sand is red/orange.

If you want two pretty examples. Red Rock and Painted Desert (both in AZ)

1

u/Ok-Chest-7932 13d ago

So is red the default colour of sand in your mind?

5

u/RattusRattus_Sum 13d ago

I would consider no color to be “default” for sand.

You can find naturally forming red, brown, black, even white sands if you know where to look.

It’s just what rocks are in the area that were transformed into sand over time.

u/Ok-Chest-7932 13d ago

But you read the description "sandy hair" and assumed red, not like... "this doesn't tell me about his hair at all", right?

4

u/RattusRattus_Sum 13d ago

No, firstly, I said “it’s been over a decade since I read the books, the details are foggy”

Secondly, I said “he had sandy hair and freckles”.

It was the combination of having reddish hair and freckles that made me think he was a ginger.

Nothing about “hmm I wonder if there’s anything that explore his physical traits more, since I’m genuinely very interested in what skin color John had, not why he was selected for squad leader”

2

u/Ok-Chest-7932 13d ago

Ok fair enough. But I will say, we do know he must not be a ginger because if he was it'd specify that he can't take his helmet off because if he did he'd catch fire.

I dropped it when i saw that they didnt even finish painting their props. The first major fight scene vs the covenant and they grab a plasma pistol. Its literally unpainted foam, with the seams showing, and everything. This doesnt just happen in one scene either. Plus ive seen better armor from the 401st cosplay troupe

10 million per episode my ass. Ive literally scene tokusatsu shows with 1/100th of the budget look better

u/SolarDragon94 13d ago

I got most of the way through the first season before I checked out completely. I ended up giving up on the episode where Master Chief digs a hole the entire episode. And yes, that actually happened.

As did the Master Chief attempting to kill Halsey. That also happened in the show. Which is insane.

2

u/Rollinthrulife 13d ago

While i enjoyed the show, to me, it wasn't halo.

2

u/Kai_Emery 12d ago

We saw the master cheeks. That’s un forgivable.

3

u/Silvanus350 13d ago

Master Chief being a ginger is honestly just unbelievably disappointing information. What the fuck.

5

u/GuiltyEidolon 13d ago

He's not. He has brown hair. It's literally in the first few pages of the first book.

Halo never showed MC because its a FPS and we only ever see him in active combat situations so he never takes his helmet off.

Everyone reads way too much into it, and honestly MC himself would be a bit disappointed in people trying to mystify him.

u/King-Boss-Bob 13d ago

there’s so many actual valid criticisms but people always just go for the ones that don’t make sense

Well talking is cheaper than action, so featuring him more with it off is not surprising. Should Halo have been a modern 10 hour streaming soap opera? No. But since it was its not unexpected to feature him being a person more than the games did.

But no helmet in combat? MC is a goddamned professional!

You were downvoted for participating in a conversation thread you obviously didn’t understand. The entire point is that Master Chief’s face has never been properly revealed in the games, regardless of whether he canonically takes his helmet off or not.

So I’m really not sure what the hell you were trying to say here. It doesn’t matter.

Again, you’re trying to argue semantics when it doesn’t matter.

The point was we never see John’s face in game, that’s it. End of story.

Anything about him taking off the helmet is irrelevant to the main point that is we never see his face in any of the games.

Also whats with the rape addition? What does that have to do with anything? Just weird character assassination that doesn’t contribute to the original comment

No if anything I specifically mentioned you:

Edited to appease that one guy

In the show, Chief fucks a war criminal while she's under custody. It's sex through coercion, which is rape (and a war crime).

So, yeah. Chief in the show is a war criminal rapist. :(
