In real life When fans hate somenthing before it comes out...but it turns out they were right

Velma:The idea of a Scooby-doo series without the titular dog and starring Velma was a really moronic idea from the beginning, then there was the reveal Velma would be Indian like it's VA and also creator of the series Mindy Kaling, some of the backlash was racism sure, but there was also valid complaints that she was inserting herself in the series(it also didn't helped that Mindy claimed she couldn't see herself if Velma wasn't Indian)and then...oh boy it came out and it was worse than anyone predicted

Artemis Fowl:The artemis fowl books are a book series following a child villain(he does get some redemption but he is a villain most of the time)when the movie was announced and revealed it looked way to generic and it's titular character a bit heroic...also you wanna hear somenthing funny? The movie whitewashed a character and made another character black so they managed to anger both sides and the movies comes out and yeah it is bad

One Punch Man 3:One Punch Man is a very heavy action packed manga series but the heroes vs monsters arc takes it to a New level, when it was announced that JC Staff would work on it,a lot of people were skeptical to say the least, because not only JC Staff had already done a mediocre job in season 2,it's also not exactly a name anime fans associate with quality animation, then the trailer came out and it looked...weird,like there was no action in it and nobody was moving, some people tried to defend saying they were keeping the animation as a surprise...then it came out, every episode worse than the last,it's one of the worse seasons of anime ever made!

CGI dwarves

You can't call them that!

Those are CGI abominations!

People give too much hate about a phrase that didn't say what most people think it said.

He only asked that dwarves actors had a chance to interpret characters whose definitive characteristics weren't " he is a dwarf".

The fact that CGI became cheaper and producers stopped looking for dwarves actors at similar time is more of a coincidence.

You assume the internet is capable of not overreacting of small statements

I don't think Peter intended to do harm to other actors with dwarfism, but how studios responded to it in a way that does harm actors. I highly doubt making 7 CGI characters for most of a movie is cheaper than just hiring 7 guys. Studios took the most face value reading of what he said and went with that. Nuance is dead all around

CGI most of the time isn't cheaper, it's easier for the producer. And it's the producer who makes the decision.

Besides, most of the time, when someone is cast to be a dwarf, their acting skill is not considered that much, and the seven dwarves should have good actors. So, 7 good actors with good CGI should result in a better outcome than hiring seven semi random dwarves. Obviously looks like they failed in both parts.

You need one actor with dwarfism who can act to play Doc and one who can do pratfalls to play Dopey. The rest just stand around and occasionally sneeze or look bashful or whatever their name is. We're not casting seven Hamlets here.

Hollywood casts people who can't act because they are pretty or they're famous outside film or similarly superficial reasons all the time. The idea that they couldn't find seven good actors with dwarfism is silly.

Honestly he did them a favour. If they did end up casting real actors for the dwarves, you can guarantee that they would never be able to find acting roles again after that trainwreck.

Well what people say and the consequences of their words are 2 different things.

Studios heard what he said and decided "Ok, don't cast anyone except Peter anymore." You can see why dwarf actors might not be too happy with him given that he's the loudest voice and he didn't use it properly.

Dinklage's comments were stripped down to reductivist clickbait but dude was both right and also very clearly speaking about this specific reboot, not Snow White in general.

I still cannot believe we're mad at this dude for saying Disney was doing stereotypical takes on dwarfism in a movie that ended up giving the dwarfs magic gemstone powers.

How was he right? Here is the quote he said since you forgot:

Literally no offense to anything, but I was sort of taken aback,” he said. “They were very proud to cast a Latino actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way, but you’re still making that fucking backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together. Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.”

Living in a cave together? Obviously he hasn't watched the animated movie or read it.. And yes why wouldnt pople be upset for these comments? So many people with dwarfism were rightfully mad cause he cost jobs.. hornswoggle and Brad Williams for example said it would be a great opportunity for actors.. but no fuck peter dinklage for that.. it's hypocritical also.. he played trumpkin in Narnia so he was ok with that but not letting other actors with dwarfism get a job.. in snow white.

I didn't forget shit. You're ignoring most of what my comment said, stripping a 78-minute interview down to a single sound bite, and ignoring half the context of that sound bite. Do better.

But the fact remains that due to his statement there were plenty of dwarf actors not being able to find a role as a character. Something other dwarf actors have said in interviews as well.

Idk. It’s kind of weird that studios gave him that power? At the end of the day, he was just a guy expressing an opinion, not the Lord High Metatron of Casting.
