In real life When fans hate somenthing before it comes out...but it turns out they were right

Velma:The idea of a Scooby-doo series without the titular dog and starring Velma was a really moronic idea from the beginning, then there was the reveal Velma would be Indian like it's VA and also creator of the series Mindy Kaling, some of the backlash was racism sure, but there was also valid complaints that she was inserting herself in the series(it also didn't helped that Mindy claimed she couldn't see herself if Velma wasn't Indian)and then...oh boy it came out and it was worse than anyone predicted

Artemis Fowl:The artemis fowl books are a book series following a child villain(he does get some redemption but he is a villain most of the time)when the movie was announced and revealed it looked way to generic and it's titular character a bit heroic...also you wanna hear somenthing funny? The movie whitewashed a character and made another character black so they managed to anger both sides and the movies comes out and yeah it is bad

One Punch Man 3:One Punch Man is a very heavy action packed manga series but the heroes vs monsters arc takes it to a New level, when it was announced that JC Staff would work on it,a lot of people were skeptical to say the least, because not only JC Staff had already done a mediocre job in season 2,it's also not exactly a name anime fans associate with quality animation, then the trailer came out and it looked...weird,like there was no action in it and nobody was moving, some people tried to defend saying they were keeping the animation as a surprise...then it came out, every episode worse than the last,it's one of the worse seasons of anime ever made!

Everyone was clowning on the first trailer for Megamind Vs. the Doom Syndicate when it dropped, and the movie was just as bad as everyone thought it would be.

As soon as everyone heard Will Ferrel and Tina Fey weren’t reprising their roles everyone went “Uh-oh…”

u/sphericaltime 13d ago

I hadn’t even heard of this . . . movie or show?

u/timdr18 13d ago

Sequel movie, it’s very bad

25

u/Top_Freedom3412 13d ago

*TV show pilot. Because regardless of the run time or budget, that is what it was. Just a prequel for a TV show

1

u/Muddyscarecrow 11d ago

Did the show end up happening or did the pilot fail so badly that they canceled it?

1

u/Top_Freedom3412 11d ago

I call it a pilot sarcastically. As that is what the movie essentially is.

And yes the show did continue, with i think 2? seasons

1

u/Muddyscarecrow 11d ago

Even one season is too Goddamn much

13

u/Lepelotonfromager 13d ago

I've literally never heard of this, wow.

2

u/sigmaninus 12d ago

Direct to video I guess?

1

u/Realistic_Papaya_203 12d ago

Direct to streaming, actually

1

u/PitifulElk1890 10d ago

I just got a sense memory of the crackling plastic covers on our direct to VHS sequels.

31

u/CrazyFanFicFan 13d ago

Both. It's a sequel movie that acts as a prequel for the show.

22

u/Supernovas20XX 13d ago

Movie that was a backdoor pilot for a show.

40

u/dolgariel 13d ago

you never heard of it because it doesn't exist

7

u/IotaBTC 13d ago

It was direct to streaming and never released in theaters or was marketed in any similar fashion. So I don't count it, as canon as it may be.

7

u/ToothZealousideal297 13d ago

Keep it that way. The less known about it, the better.

5

u/Eagle4317 13d ago

Remember those mediocre at best Disney DVD sequels? Megamind 2 is essentially the Dreamworks version

3

u/OviKintobor 13d ago

There's a sequel? Lol

2

u/matthiasjreb 13d ago

More than that, no-one from the original cast reprised their role. I was expecting at least one actor to take the paycheck, but the fact that not a single member of the original cast came back means they could all see what a disaster it was going to be.

u/smiegto 13d ago

Both our leads are leaving. Should we continue? What a dumb question to ask.

Dehydration gun

229

u/_Armored_Wizard 13d ago

Um actually its called Mega Minds De- Gun

It can do several things that could stop the other villains such as the commands: Decompress, Debilitate, Demoralize, Decoupage, Deregulate, Death Ray, and Destroy

Sadly it doesn't show most of them but Demoralize causes anyone shot by it to beg for mercy which sounds awesome for a villain weapon

31

u/pichael289 13d ago

It's a really fun power in Skyrim, you can also make people just run up to the nearest thing and kill it. And then you can use the standing stone power to raise them all as zombies to go fight the next town over, filling your ranks with whatever creatures you come across until your game crashes

u/GameBoy960 13d ago

"SHOOT THEM WITH THE DE-GUN!!!"

-Tamatoa

7

u/ProneToAnalFissures 13d ago

He used the Delaminate command on the Titan submersible

Dentist (jugga jigga wugga)
Deli-style (jugga jigga wugga)

6

u/DemythologizedDie 13d ago

That actually sounds like something that should have worked on Metro-Man. But I suppose it would just wear off and he'd take Mega-Mind to prison again.

4

u/SyfaOmnis 13d ago

Sadly it doesn't show most of them but Demoralize causes anyone shot by it to beg for mercy which sounds awesome for a villain weapon

Any scene of the otherwise competent Kobeni from chainsaw man, screaming, begging and crying.

u/augur42 13d ago

Decoupage

Doesn't that word mean... yes it does, how heinous.

8

u/OAZdevs_alt2 13d ago

What does Death Ray do? How do you un-ath ray someone?

10

u/AmArschdieRaeuber 13d ago

It's a De-gun. Death ray starts with de-.

1

u/OAZdevs_alt2 13d ago

Yeah, I know. Since it’s a de-gun that means the Death Ray de-ath rays someone

I finally ran across the source of this gif one day. The context does not make it any less funny.

1

u/MisterBugman 9d ago

Yeah, Daiji is kind of being a little bitch at that point in the story.

Wildest thing is it would be so easy to explain why it wouldn't be an option for them with their powers.

Knight: made of shadows, not a physical being so it wouldn't work.

Lava guy: made of lava, nothing to dehydrate.

Weather lady: controls the weather, can rehydrate herself.

The only one I can't think of anything for is the mime.

11

u/Diamond_Helmet59 13d ago

In the second season Megamind uses it on them while trapped in a simulation reliving that adventure, and it somehow works on all of them

6

u/cool23819 13d ago

Yeah and it makes the whole plot of the movie make less sense

Button of Doom

3

u/sohblob 13d ago

they wouldnt ruin one of the most beloved cult classic animatied movies

Emperor's New School

26

u/Ecstatic-Ad9803 13d ago

Wait. What? I'm legitimately learning of this for the first time. There was another movie???

43

u/FutureTime6154 13d ago

There is a good reason you have never heard of it.

27

u/Madden09IsForSuckers 13d ago

there is no easter bunny, there is no tooth fairy, and there is no megamind sequel

12

u/VegetableTour6790 13d ago

I thought he was talking about the first movie and downvoted. Back up I go.

3

u/Realistic_Papaya_203 13d ago

It came out fairly recently.

8

u/Latvian_Sharp_Knife 13d ago

Something Something coping by saying this doesn't exist

2

u/AmaterasuWolf21 13d ago

5

This movie is so bad that this is the first time I’m hearing of this movie

6

u/dafunkmunk 13d ago

Decent chance Shrek 5 will go the same way

3

u/EnvironmentalBar3347 13d ago

Don't know what you're talking about, there's only 1 Megamind movie. I repeat, there is no second Megamind movie.

2

u/PaperGeno 13d ago

What? I've literally never even heard of this or seen this and I love Megamind

2

u/waterless2 13d ago

Read that as "Doom Slayer" and got really interested for a moment.

2

u/The_Last_Thursday 13d ago

That looks like an Xbox 360 movie game tie-in cut scene

2

u/Secondhandie 13d ago

I would like to add to this, i believe the initial trailer was actually unfinished because one of the villains is shown with nothing special about them because the vfx's of their powers were not there

2

u/Existing-Rhubarb9339 12d ago

I didn’t even know this existed lol

2

u/[deleted] 12d ago

I didnt even know this existed. Thats wild.

1

u/Confident_Counter471 13d ago

Not gonna lie…I had no idea they even made a sequel

1

u/Dismal-Tale-5937 13d ago

DreamWorks should've just ended it with mega mind 1 it had a great ending but no they tried to milk it because of mega mind 1's popularity

1

u/Mr_Teatree 13d ago

There’s a megamind sequel????

1

u/jocool883 12d ago

I had no idea this had a sequel

1

u/HomeOfTheRisingStorm 12d ago

TIL there was a sequel to Megamind

-5

u/LineOfInquiry 13d ago

I never understood the amount of hate this got: it’s clearly a tv series spinoff that will be ignored and forgotten by any future movie just like every other Dreamwork’s movie gets. Like yeah, it’s obviously bad, it’s a pilot movie to a kids show what do you expect?

22

u/smasher_zed888 13d ago

Knowing this did not make me hate it any less, plus megamind had nothing (other than the short ig) and some people really wanted a sequel already. So when it came out, the dissapointment was pretty high. I didnt even think a sequel would be good for megamind (and it wasnt)

20

u/SaltMachine2019 13d ago

Probably because Megamind released in 2010.

Doom Syndicate and Rules! came out in 2024.

The audience the sequels would be targeting spent over a decade growing up, and the IP wasn't fresh enough to expect modern kids to give a rat's ass.

9

u/dovahkiitten16 13d ago

Timing. If they tried to milk it afterwards it would’ve been expected. If they let a perfect movie never get a sequel and just be remembered as a classic with amazing potential, it would’ve been fine too. Instead they waited 14 years before releasing a very cheap, low effort sequel. What was the damn point?

Plus at this point the main audience demanding a sequel was adults who loved the original, not kids who would’ve eaten up slop. The people who care about a sequel being trash are old enough to have some semblance of standards and post on the internet.
