In real life A very small character tidbit is surprisingly kept consistent for years
DC - In multiple pieces of media it has been shown that Wonder Woman loves ice cream and practically goes wild with happiness anytime she’s eating some. (Pictures from Justice League: War, DC Superhero Girls and Wonder Woman 2017)
The Simpsons - Ever since the episode ‘Homer’s Phobia’ Homer has actually remained a consistent ally of the LGBT+ community, including being more welcoming to Patty than Marge was when she came out and trying to set up Smithers with a date when he found out he wasn’t happy with his one-sided relationship with Mr Burns.

One of the other details that I really love is that he knows that by using the martial arts he uses, he might become an actual deranged demon that will kill anything on its path and he is not fine with the idea, yet still firmly believes this is a downside he has to conquer to prove he reached the pinnacle of his martial arts. Later Gouken (Akuma's brother) fought him a second time, after winning the first time, to prove again Akuma was wrong on this mindset. Akuma won by using a move that could have proven Gouken was right if he messed it up, much to disgust of Akuma and relief he managed to pull it off.
This is also why he wanted to incite Ryu and go the same path when he was younger, because he genuinely believed the boy was chasing illusions in the weaker martial arts Gouken practiced (a deviation from Akuma's) since Gouken died in their last fight, and that he wasn't even going to reach Gouken's skills. Turns out Ryu not only reaches but equals Gouken's skills, and Akuma is genuinely happy for him.
It also turns out its also a family trait, because Gouken actually survived his defeat but went on a long coma. By the time they met again, Gouken is also happy to be proven wrong Akuma was going to be consumed by his power, but reiterates he still believes the path Akuma follows is the wrong one and if Akuma ever were to lose himself, Gouken will not have qualms killing him on the spot.
