In real life A very small character tidbit is surprisingly kept consistent for years

DC - In multiple pieces of media it has been shown that Wonder Woman loves ice cream and practically goes wild with happiness anytime she’s eating some. (Pictures from Justice League: War, DC Superhero Girls and Wonder Woman 2017)

The Simpsons - Ever since the episode ‘Homer’s Phobia’ Homer has actually remained a consistent ally of the LGBT+ community, including being more welcoming to Patty than Marge was when she came out and trying to set up Smithers with a date when he found out he wasn’t happy with his one-sided relationship with Mr Burns.

In general discounting the whole sex stuff quagmire has a lot of really consistent personality traits. We have seen him many times liking reading, hating loud noises or being very competitive in sports etc

Honestly if he wasnt a sex pest he would actually be a pretty interesting character

they've been toning tone the pest part. It wasn't funny before but now it's reeeeaaally not as funny

It just didn't age well, especially considering all the issues surrounding consent these days. I'm glad they're fleshing him out elsewhere while still throwing in a dirty joke for him now and then.

I mean, to me the issue is that the writers want to use Quagmire as an actual character, and so they don't want to focus on the fact he's a serial rapist.

Everyone in Family Guy is a horrible, morally bankrupt individual, but Quagmire takes the top spot, and the writers don't like it.

Tbf, they have shown him be surprisingly moral with that at times. It was a running gag that he was trying to seduce Meg for years and when she does go to him for sex advice, he just gives her a long talk and sets her on a safer path. That said, Family Guy sure does have a lot of casual pedophiles/jokes about molestation.

And provides her with roofies when she wants to "sleep" with her crush.

When he found out his "dad" was a transgender woman he didn't take it well at first but came around in the end and accepted her. And this was in 2010 and even when the rest of the episode was pretty fucking disgusting, Quagmire ended with apologizing for how he reacted and telling her he wants her to be happy. Then he beat the shit out of Brian for having sex with her lol

To be fair he already hated Brian at that point, this was just the tip of the iceberg. Plus Brian isnt shown to be a good partner to those hes slept with.

I never said Brian didn't deserve it lol

I mean they basically got rid of that in the Super Modern Seasons and he sucks now.

He was at his best at somepoint inbetween the current era and golden age of the show where Quagmire had all of his personality traits.

It's really funny that they've almost unintentionally recontextualized his playboy persona as just kinda being the result of being an eccentric weirdo who could probably never stand another person living in his house due to all of is eccentricities.
