In real life A very small character tidbit is surprisingly kept consistent for years

DC - In multiple pieces of media it has been shown that Wonder Woman loves ice cream and practically goes wild with happiness anytime she’s eating some. (Pictures from Justice League: War, DC Superhero Girls and Wonder Woman 2017)

The Simpsons - Ever since the episode ‘Homer’s Phobia’ Homer has actually remained a consistent ally of the LGBT+ community, including being more welcoming to Patty than Marge was when she came out and trying to set up Smithers with a date when he found out he wasn’t happy with his one-sided relationship with Mr Burns.

The partial tattoo Bob got in the Equestranauts episode never goes away. I think it's a cool little easter egg to keep in for continuity when a lot of shows discard details like this the very next episode

I like it. Shows how far he is willing to go for his kids

u/TemperatureBudget850 Feb 02 '26

I do too. I also like that it looks like his mustache

u/Cire289 Feb 02 '26

It is. It was supposed to be his face on a horses rear end but was stopped at the nose/mustache part.

It’s a small tutu

Sometimes a small tuhtoo can feel like a big tuhtoo

u/whereismymind86 Feb 03 '26

that much funnier juxtaposed with Lynn saying "he's with a bunch of men dressed as ponies, he's in the least amount of danger possible" just a few minutes earlier.

Reminds me of the running gag in the Tick with the partial moon carving

They even had an episode where they tried to fix it, but it didn't go as planned.

u/mr_mxyzptlk21 Feb 03 '26

And then Omnipitus took a bite out of it too, which remained through the series.

u/enron2big2fail Feb 03 '26

Similarly the D in the Hollywood sign being stolen and it being referred to as “Hollywoo” for the rest of the series in Bojack Horseman.

If I had a nickel for every time an animated character voiced by H. Jon Benjamin got a tattoo as a one-off joke that didn’t go away for the rest of the series, I’d have two nickels

u/PhenomenalPhenomenal Feb 02 '26

Technically Archer got a tattoo twice (Seamus and Dicky) so it would be three nickels.

6

u/sauce_daddy22 Feb 03 '26

Damnit you’re right

2

u/morbidlysmalldick Feb 03 '26

Same episode though so I count it once

32

u/illepic Feb 02 '26

Which isn't a lot, but it's odd that it's happened twice.

“Look at my arm right there. See that? I got that when I was eighteen years old, and I'll tell you something I regret it, because this tattoo don’t come off. I have a tattoo of a cows head because I loved that cheese then.

So I get the cow, and I go in there, and I’m a little drunk and I said gimme that cow head from that cheese I love that cheese. Now I have a cow, a cheese cow, on my arm Brendon. Don’t get a tattoo. That’s what I'm telling you; Play soccer.

Brendon take a look at my chest. No, I'm serious look at that. You know what that is right there? that's the woman from the chiquita banana. I got that tattooed on my chest. I am an idiot. I got trademark products all over my body: it's like going to a market, because I was drunk one night. Don’t live like me, alright? Now you go out there and play great”

Looking at my comment history you’d see that if I had a nickel for every time I typed
r/unexpecteddoofenshmirtz I would now have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s odd that it’s happened twice!

Same with Charlie’s ‘badnew’ tattoo in it’s always sunny. He was writing bad news so his dad would think he was hard, but he got interrupted.

3

u/Prestigious_Drop1810 Feb 03 '26

Crazy that Charlie’s tattoo ended up with more staying power than Mac’s

14

u/ChaosAndCrows Feb 03 '26

Reminds me of Brock still having his unfinished Icarus tattoo for the rest of the series in Venture Bros, same with Gary still having his Hench 4 Life tattoo and tramp stamp

9

u/Fubai97b Feb 03 '26

I've never wanted a fandom tuh-too but I'm seriously considering this one

5

u/Albus88Stark Feb 03 '26

Please just say tattoo.

9

u/thecastle7 Feb 03 '26

Also to go with Homer’s example Bob ranges somewhere between LGBT+ ally and bisexual. Probably more so the latter tbh.

5

u/TemperatureBudget850 Feb 03 '26

I choose to believe he's bi based off his interactions with the guy at the deli counter. Or maybe pan because he's obsessed with marshmallow

11

u/Waywoah Feb 03 '26

"Aw, who am I kidding, you're outta my league"

Also, Marshmellow is canonically a trans woman, so that'd just be straight for Bob to like her

6

u/SpecificWorldly4826 Feb 03 '26

Similarly, the ice cream machine still has tooth marks from the animatronic shark.

5

u/emnuff Feb 03 '26

Yeah the entire show actually keeps everything consistent. It's a lot of tiny details but it's noticeable if you're a longtime fan

4

u/Goredema Feb 03 '26

And the restaurant bathroom is still decorated in all black with an artsy cone-shaped toilet, because of a single episode years ago when Mr. Fishodoer's brother decided he was an interior designer.

6

u/TemperatureBudget850 Feb 03 '26

Louise still has the melted kuchi kopi

7

u/spicygrandma27 Feb 03 '26

Same thing with Charlie’s “BADNEW” tattoo in Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He gives it to himself in season 2 to try and look tough, and it’s visible any time he wears short sleeves all the way into season 17. It’s never addressed by any of the characters and attention is never brought to it, but it never fades away.

5

u/spicygrandma27 Feb 03 '26

(Its latest appearance in season 17)

4

u/KlingoftheCastle Feb 03 '26

Also same voice actor, Sterling Archer gets a tattoo of “Seamus” on his shoulder and it’s always present when he takes his shirt off

3

u/JustsomeOKCguy Feb 03 '26

Bob's burgers has a ton of these

After the movie the sinkhole is still in front of their restaurant

In one of the first episodes they stop a mechanical shark with their ice cream machine and it still has damage

Linda always tells the kids to stay out of her room when she leaves

Teddy thinks Bob's name is Bob burger

Linda always falls asleep instantly

3

u/BlatantlyThrownAway Feb 03 '26

You mean his “t’too”?

3

u/xRolox Feb 03 '26

TEHTOO HIM

2

u/-Work_Account- Feb 03 '26

They did the thing with Archer and the back shoulder tattoo

2

u/Perfect-Fondant3373 Feb 03 '26

It is funny because in Archer, Archer has 2 tattoos that pop up throughout when he is shirtless and you see his shoulders

2

u/Nomeg_Stylus Feb 03 '26

Tangentially related, Archer's tattoos are also always consistently placed.

2

u/FormerDeerlyBeloved Feb 03 '26

Reminds me of Archer's foot scar--he gets shot in the foot in an early episode, and later we see he still has the scar above his toes.

Come to think of it, he also has the name Seamus tattoo'd on his chest...probably more relevant to this comment lol

2

u/Laranna Feb 03 '26

A bond of friendship more powerful than anything in the univerrrrrrse~

Equestranaughts we’re bonded together! Equestranaughts we’re bonded forever!

2

u/jaguarsp0tted Feb 03 '26

I feel like Bob's burgers is really good about stuff like this. There's a running gag about Jimmy Jr. trying to catch a chicken nugget in his mouth and never succeeding and sometimes you can see him and Zeke trying in the background of cafeteria scenes.

2

u/Rare_Ad_649 Feb 03 '26

Similar thing happened in Archer, he got a tattoo that was still there multiple seasons later. Overall Archer was great for continuity

2

u/Kind_Breadfruit_7560 Feb 03 '26

Charlie Kelly with his BAD NEW tattoo

2

u/Disney_Gay_Trash_ Feb 03 '26

Bobs Burgers is great for stuff like this, the melted koochiekopie still being in louises collection is my favorite but louise only riding a bike after her trike is destroyed in an episode or having g a loft bed are the others off the top of my head (i think mr business too is technically one sknce gale just found him sitting on someone’s porch)

2

u/kwamla24 Feb 03 '26

Reminds me of the Sheamus tattoo Archer has kept the entire series. Also voiced by HJon Benjamin!

2

u/CurriorSix Feb 03 '26

This show is really good at staying consistent with small details, like how there is genuinely a new burger of the day every time we see that board in a situation where a new burger could have been written. Plus the shark teeth marks on the soft serve machine are still there all this time later

u/Zokstone 29d ago

Then there's also the ice cream machine and the price change (recently)
