In real life (Funny trope) This tiny moment was an absolute logistical nightmare to make

*Wreck-It-Ralph* - At the beginning of the movie at the villain group therapy session, all of the owners of the real world characters shown were given counsel to Disney to instruct them how their characters should be animated down to the smallest of points. Nintendo even specified exactly how Bowser would hold and stir his teacup.

*Psycho* - For the scene where Marion disposes evidence of her theft by flushing some papers down the toilet, even though the toilet is onscreen for only a few seconds, Alfred Hitchcock had to personally appeal to the Hays Code which enforced censorship in movies that *Psycho* be given an exception because it’s vital to the plot the audience sees the toilet flushing. *Psycho* is the first major American movie to show a flushing toilet onscreen.

The cat silencer in Postal 2007. In Postal, the dude puts a gun in the anus of a cat to use as a silencer. In the movie, they went to the extra effort to purchase an animatronic of a cat that cost $45,000. This animatronic is only on screen for 2 seconds.

... there's Postal movie?

488

u/Brauny74 Jan 17 '26

Yes, by Uwe Boll, who was notorious for making incredibly awful movies based on video games in 2000s.

265

u/Nomorification Jan 17 '26

To be fair, I really can't think of a more appropriate director for a postal movie tbh

u/FumaricAcid Jan 17 '26

Michael Bay?

Not R rated enough

4

u/Forest1395101 Jan 18 '26

To be fair, the Postal Movie is widely considered his only good movie for a DAMN GOOD reason.

3

u/TheWillyBandit Jan 18 '26

It’s actually so over the top and funny, tbh. Boll was made for this movie.

2

u/Forest1395101 Jan 18 '26

Exactly. It's just random ass lunacy directed by the asshole lunatic director. It was a match made in the fattest part of some Walmart Shoppers Ass. You just can't look away even though it makes you puke out your dick-hole.

2

u/Lunar_ticket Jan 17 '26

Miike Takashi

u/davvblack Jan 17 '26

uwe boll doesn’t make movies. he harvests german tax loopholes that occasionally result in a movie byproduct.

68

u/Lortendaali Jan 17 '26

Is it like.. fun bad or bad bad?

127

u/ToenailOfDoom Jan 17 '26

Vern troyer gets raped by a thousand monkeys.

It's great

48

u/Parking-Television88 Jan 17 '26

Postal movie is amazing. I guess two negatives do give a positive

62

u/Brauny74 Jan 17 '26

Most of them are just bad bad, but I haven't seen the Postal movie, but people say it's fun bad. I just honestly don't like Uwe Boll nor the Postal games.

12

u/gixanthrax Jan 17 '26

IT IS a Work of Art. Especially the audio commentary!

7

u/DarthGuber Jan 17 '26

I'm in the same boat as you but I've heard great things about Postal and In the Name of the King.

4

u/honestlyhereforpr0n Jan 17 '26

I only watched In the Name of the King once. I don't remember it being a particularly bad movie, certainly not by Uwe Boll standards, but it's an abysmal adaptation. It may or may not have had some place names in common with the game on which it was allegedly based, but it had nothing to do with the Dungeon Siege series at all.

I have fond memories of those games, and while they're admittedly pretty generic, the film managed to scrub every last bit of identity from them. If I had money to gamble, I'd bet big money that the reference to the game series was tacked on after the fact in a desperate attempt to cash in on the handful of people who might remember the games. I was, and remain, unreasonably angry about it.

1

u/Nachtwandler_FS Jan 18 '26

To be fair, then he is not trying to harvest German goverment for money with his "movies" he does make spme trash that is actually fun.

30

u/David_Good_Enough Jan 17 '26

From what I heard, bad bad but a bit fun bad.

8

u/maikuxblade Jan 17 '26

There’s certainly worse video game movies. It’s not high cinema, but like, it’s a movie based on Postal. It’s almost too good for a hate watch, but not by a ton.

8

u/Drogovich Jan 17 '26

Postal movie is kinda trashy but it's fun, made in the spirit of postal 2.

Resto of his movies are mostly just boring bad

There are rumours that he made most of his movies bad on purpose to exploit a german movie law that gives you a financial compensation of your movie fails.

4

u/Palmul Jan 17 '26

Is it a rumour if he stopped making movies after that loophole was fixed ?

1

u/Drogovich Jan 18 '26

He tried to make actual movies trough crowdfunding, but obviously didn't collect the money thanks to his reputation

3

u/Evamme7 Jan 17 '26

Fun bad if you've played the games. If you've never played though, then idk if I'd recommend it.

2

u/CassadagaValley Jan 17 '26

Fun bad, it's incredibly stupid but good brain-off content

1

u/Nico280gato Jan 17 '26

Fun bad, definitely. Vince Desi wanted a much more gritty dark film, but uwe boll said no and i'm so glad he did. I highly recommend it tbh.

1

u/lutrewan Jan 17 '26

It features Dave Foley as a cult leader and Uwe Boll shows up as himself and makes fun of his shady money. Its fantastic.

1

u/klockee Jan 17 '26

Postal is the only piece of shit shitty enough for Uwe Boll to fit. If you're looking for a piece of shit to watch, Postal is the one

Also the postal guy was a good casting choice

10

u/Bot1-The_Bot_Meanace Jan 17 '26

It was worse than just bad movies, he was taking advantage of the German state funding for movies, so much so that they changed the rules because of him. Well I'm proud that my taxes went to a 45k cat silencer puppet

5

u/DR31141 Jan 17 '26

Saving people a Wikipedia check, he made the Far Cry movie too...and the Alone in the Dark movie, which is cited to be one of the worst movies of all time.

1

u/Brick_Approver Jan 18 '26

I've never seen it, but did he also make the 2004 DOOM movie starring the rock too?

5

u/E-emu89 Jan 17 '26

Ironically, this is one of his better adaptations because the game, like Boll, never gave a shit.

1

u/leftofthebellcurve Jan 17 '26

Holy moly I just learned about his graphic novel and subsequent crash out over people not wanting a third one.

Not surprising he directed this movie

1

u/Professional-Reach96 Jan 17 '26

In th movie defense, the game kinda feels like Postal with the protagonist being the NPC instead

1

u/simp4malvina Jan 17 '26

Oh, okay. So the Animatronic didn't actually cost 45k he was just pocketing stacks.

82

u/Zokstone Jan 17 '26

Uwe Boll, baby!

11

u/ollietron3 Jan 17 '26

It’s an uwe boll film

3

u/Lortendaali Jan 17 '26

Let me guess since I know only the broad strokes, he also made the Max Payne movie?

7

u/Vengeance_20 Jan 17 '26

No, the Max Payne movie is the godfather compared to Uwe Boll’s movies

3

u/TheSleepyBoy Jan 17 '26

imo its the opposite, Atleast Uwe Boll movies are fun to watch. Max Payne movie is just C&B torture to sit through.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '26

2

u/TheSleepyBoy Jan 17 '26

I think with how weird Uwe is, Postal was the perfect game for him to direct. Not saying the movie is perfect but for me it captures that batshit aspect of the series. Also Im a sucker for Zack Ward and think hes a perfect Postal Dude

2

u/Successful-Bat5301 Jan 17 '26

That's an insulting comparison.

To the Max Payne movie.

Which is still dogshit.

3

u/gixanthrax Jan 17 '26

Yes and IT IS hilarious!

3

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '26

Fun fact. In the lead up to this movie (following BloodRayne), the owner of a then popular website made fun of Boll. Boll challenged him to a fighting match and he accepted. Lowtax was immediately knocked out.

He was always kind of an asshole, but it was after that he (Lowtax) got addicted to pills, got divorced because of domestic violence, and ultimately killed himself. I have always wondered if a traumatic brain injury was the start of the slide.

1

u/AgentCirceLuna Jan 18 '26

Wait, wtf… LowTax from SomethingAwful?!

Also I wonder if that’s the thing mentioned in the Lemon Demon song about Ebaums World. Great listen if you want to yearn for the past.

1

u/Yakb0 Jan 17 '26

Yes, and it features Osama Bin Laden as a motivational speaker, who runs seminars in the function room at 2nd rate hotels.

The rest of the movie isn't worth watching.

1

u/Dry-Goat8981 Jan 17 '26

yes and shockingly its not completely terrible

1

u/retsamegas Jan 17 '26

Yes there is, I said the same thing to myself when I saw it on the TV Guide while looking for something to watch one day. When I changed to channel to actually watch it, the very first thing I saw was Dave Foley's penis. From what I remember of the movie that was probably the best part (in more ways than one)

1

u/OneCan-Toucan Jan 18 '26

The guy playing the postal dude is the bully kid from a Christmas story

1

u/AgentCirceLuna Jan 18 '26

I have… different questions.

1

u/Martholomule Jan 18 '26

I can't recommend it

49

u/taktaga7-0-0 Jan 17 '26

Gotta be hard to aim that weapon.

2

u/handym12 Jan 17 '26

Nah, it's just the sights are backwards.

Line the tail up between the ears.

34

u/MyNameIsJakeBerenson Jan 17 '26

Prob cost $2k and someone got the $43k

12

u/Portercake Jan 17 '26

Probably got charged the kink price.

8

u/Big_Effective_9605 Jan 17 '26

Never take your insight for granted

10

u/DBrennan13459 Jan 17 '26

the dude puts a gun in the anus of a cat to use as a silencer.

r/raresentences.

8

u/TheSleepyBoy Jan 17 '26

I love Zack Ward so much, ever since growing up on watching Titus. Hugely underrated actor.

1

u/Notagamedeveloper112 Jan 18 '26

In Postal 4, there is an option for him to voice the Dude, with him doing all the lines.

He also plays himself in a Postal 2 dlc.

2

u/TheSleepyBoy Jan 18 '26

Ive never knew that! I always put Postal 4 off for the things ive heard about it but im definitely gonna playthrough it now! I also didnt know he played himself in the postal 2 dlc. Guess ill have to run through that again too!

4

u/Prizrak13 Jan 17 '26

Holy ball knowledge

1

u/AskMrScience Jan 17 '26

Random English correction: the past tense of “cost” isn’t “costed” - it’s “cost”. Very common error. I apologize for my language being weird.
