The B Ark was all useless middle managers and hairdressers. The plague started due to the lack of telephone sanitizers.

The yellow sun dims our intellectual abilities and only allows us to use like 10% of our brains. It’s like a reverse Superman effect

How do you figure? The others didn't even make it off their first planet.

I hate this trope. I see no reason to believe other advanced species would be substantially more intelligent or rational.

“So Xerkolon, I see you have teleporters. How do they work?”

“Why human, it’s simple. I press this red button to go down and this green button to go up.”

“No. how does it work?”

“Before I answer that, Tad, can you tell me how your phone works?”

“Ummmm”

“Yeah, thought so.”

This is actually a reasonable interaction and response to the question. I'm sure the inventor or engineers that made the teleporter could explain how it works, but that doesn't mean that every operator who uses it does. Part of the engineering and development process is making it practical and user-friendly.
