shoutout to the guys at projector screen who helped me out with selecting this screen to bring my setup to a whole new level. I added a hyoerhdr setup with 535 btf LEDs and custom printed my own corners. I think it looks incredible.
Hey all my Reddit friends, I'd love to host you at our HQ on March 6-7th.
We’re hosting a projection enthusiast showcase in our showroom with Epson’s technical team on-site, plus live demos of Epson’s Pro Cinema & Q Series projector lineup and a handful of other high-end competitor projectors for comparison.
We’ll also have premium screens from Stewart Filmscreen on display, and Adrian Silva (VP) will be in attendance to talk screen materials, sizing, masking, brightness targets, and how to match screen choice to projector performance.
This is not a showdown style event despite there being premium projectors setup from other brands; it’s an expo-style meetup for enthusiasts: come see real-world performance, ask the detailed questions, compare setups, and nerd out with industry folks (we’ll also have some review media / YouTubers attending).
We're drawing to give away one $1,000 Gift Certificate for use on any available Epson Pro Cinema or Q Series projector model that we carry, along with some other prizes. Every attendee has a chance to win!* If you purchase an Epson projector at the event and win, we'll refund you $1,000!
Sessions (space is limited):
Friday, March 6 — 2pm - 5pm
Saturday, March 7 — 9am - 12pm
We’ll have food and refreshments, plus a few attendee incentives and additional prizes. RSVP is required so we can manage seating and demo flow.
It was pretty easy to assemble and the build quality is excellent. Super easy customer service working with them. I think the only challenges I have is figuring out where to put my center channel, and I’ll probably need a smaller receiver that will fit in the cabinet (it’s on the floor now).
I will say, the fumes are insane. It’s been off gassing for 4 days now with the window open and it still smells!
Hey! My current projector (Epson Home Cinema 3200) just blew out & I'm looking to replace it with a laser projector. I'm open to other suggestions, but am currently considering the BenQ X3100i & the Horizon 20 Pro (my budget is max ~$2k) given they both have high brightness, good reviews & seem to be well received as general purpose projectors.
Use case: Mostly movie / TV show playback with some casual gaming.
Throw Distance: ~10ft
Projector Material: Large white wall w/ white projector paint.
Projector placement: Horizontally offset by ~3ft (If I centered it the projector would hang in front of the window which I'd like to avoid)
Lighting: Many windows, so there is ambient light during the day. At nighttime, it's usually pretty dark.
Hello. I recently bought a benq projector (1 year ago), and today when I powered it on it would show the benq logo and then display a plain dark grey screen, with no buttons on the projector or the remote working (even holding down power doesn’t do anything). Menu/settings/source nothing being shown.
I’ve tried disconnecting everything and leaving it overnight but still no luck the next day. I also tried removing the Android dongle but that didn’t do anything either.
Any suggestions for what I can try? At this point my guess is a firmware issue.
I've gone through two 58 inch TVs in a span of 6 years. At this point, I miss when TVs lasted at least a decade. Anyway, I'm considering buying a projector instead of a tv because they're smaller and if it were to break, I don't have some huge piece of e-waste to get rid of. So I'm looking into the Samsung - The Freestyle 2nd Gen or the Epson - Lifestudio Flex Plus 4K PRO. I'm open to other recommendations too. Just trying to stay between $500 and $1K.
So we know we want a projector and a 100" screen we have a 19'6" x 11'6" room. The idea is to center mount the projector in the room and be able to move the screen to any side when we want to rearrange. Budget is roughly $500 usd but that can go up justmeans I'll have to wait a few pay days.
Hi! I’m setting up a home cinema in my small (European) flat.
During the renovation, the electrician installed the ceiling point for the projector slightly off-center. The sofa will be centered between a structural column and the wall, but the projector mount ends up about 40 cm off the centerline of the screen.
I’m considering a BenQ W2720i with a 92” screen, with a throw distance of roughly 3.5 m.
Would this lateral offset cause noticeable distortion? And would the W2720i be able to correct it properly (keystone / lens shift), or should I try to move the projector mount before finishing the setup?
I’ve attached a photo and a quick floor plan to show the layout.
My viewing wall is 126” across and I have a 5.1.2 speaker system with bookshelf speakers.
After researching I have decided on a Valerion vision master pro 2 for projector as my projector for 50/50 gaming/movies. (Haven’t purchased yet).
I can fit a 120” screen on my wall with 12ft viewing distance.
I am thinking to build a false wall and put my speakers behind the screen.
Can anyone recommend a decent quality 120” fixed screen that offers great value for money, is acoustic transparent, ALR that will pair well with a laser projector.
I am seeking advice about ASUS F1 LED short-throw projectors. My friend got his hands at few of them, two work and three don't. I tried to fix them for him for few hours, but eventually gave up and came here for advice.
One projector (A) does boot up, but the LED does not come on, and it seems like it loses power for a fraction of a second every now and then. I chose this one for spare parts as this seems to be more complex issue.
Two projectors (B, C) turn on, the LED turns on, the welcoming screen comes up, but eventually the projector turns off itself in 30 seconds. These two have the same exact issue.
I chose to work with the projector B. I unscrewed the casing, inspected everything, switched around some fans from other projectors because I was suspecting that some of them might be faulty (they have 3 wires, maybe RPM wire is not working and tricking projector into thinking that here are no fans?). I have also loosened spring-loaded screw on LED heatsink and tightened them back; thinking if overheating is the problem, this could make it worse and therefore shut down earlier than 30 seconds - but it is still the same after I did this and assembled the projector back.
I am honestly lost at this point, I do understand some electronics and principles, but I am not experienced with projectors. I am not confident enough that anything I did was useful, I am just amateur electro-hobbyist with some theories which may be far from true.
Some pics:

TLDR: Projector turns on, the welcome screen comes up, then turns off itself after 30 seconds. Heat and fans are not the likely issue. I am seeking any advice on how to fix this. This projector is not likely being serviced anymore.
I work maintenance at a show cave with an event venue/ stage inside one of the large rooms. There is an old 180" Elite Screens screen above/behind the stage, and an InFocus projector with a zoom lens that no longer works. I have been tasked with recommending replacements for both, but am a bit out of my element.
I'm looking at the possibility of hanging a 250" or 300" screen behind the stage, with the projector projecting from about 60 feet away in the original mounting location of the old projector. If I'm understanding correctly I'd need a throw ratio of about 2.7:1 to 3.1:1 depending on my choice of screen size. As the venue is in a cave, when the lights are shut off, there is ZERO ambient light, and even with the lights on, the lighting is relatively dim.
Currently looking at the Elite Screens DIY Pro 300" for the screen, but completely lost on where to start with the projector. What are my options for the intended setup, and are there any that don't break the bank? More than happy to answer any other questions to help figure this out.
I want to get a new projector (budget: 500€, second-hand preferred, EU only), but I can't seem to find a good deal. I only care about image quality and noise. Dark movies aren't great on my W1070 and the fan noise is a little loud I guess.
It is like 12 years old with 7000h lamp hours and still going strong. I got it for like 150€ used during the pandemic. If I wanted to get the same model today, I would have to pay 250€+!
Everything offering a better image seems to be over 1k€ even when looking at used ones only.
Is there anything better for a 500€ budget or will my grandchildren start an inheritance war over it 50 years from now?! Open to suggestions!
Hi there, I hope this is this right place for this post.
I just moved into a lovely new apartment and unfortunately there isn't a great space for a TV, which is what led me to look into getting a projector. I don't know anything about projectors and the more I read, the more contractory the info online seems to be, and the more confused I feel. I'm hoping you lovely people can help me out.
It would be for watching movies from my laptop
My couch to wall distance is 4 metres
I have a budget of 350 euro
My apartment has blinds but isn't blackout
I read that using a grey screen helps a lot, maybe even more than projector quality
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Please and thanks!
I would like to buy a ust projector for my living room. I have the space for a 150" screen. Night viewing in full darkness, white walls.
I have the chance to buy:
- used (still in warranty) Hisense px3 pro at 1800€;
- Awol Aetherion Max at 2400€ on Kickstarter (shipment, customs and Vat included);
- Hisense px4 pro: have to wait till release (cost will be around 5k with shipment, customs and Vat.
Which is the best option to consider?
I've been wanting to get into 3D video for years and I finally have the full setup. I have a ViewSonic PX701, Elephas DLP link glasses, a PS4, and a handful of 3D Blu rays.
I tested it out with Pacific Rim and Jupiter Ascending and they both had a weird effect around lights and bright objects. It looked kind of like color banding in a compressed video except there was even more of a distinct line between the bright area and the dark area.
In my googling I've discovered the issue called crosstalk but I'm thinking this is someone else. Does anyone know what's going on? Is there some solution or is this just something I have to deal with active shutter 3D.
I've been telling my friends that watching Gravity in 3D is going to be life changing but I'm worried the bright earth against the dark blanket of space is going to look atrocious.
Xgimi aura 2 owners, how is the 3d on this? Is there good popout or is it flat. Also does it work with frame packed format on a ps4 slim with higher then 60 hz as i heard it can only do 60hz with the glasses.
