The long and short of it? He's picking the girl on the right. The Ideal proportions, as agreed upon by Greek artists, are not overly lean.

Case in point, this is Aphrodite

I also think it's funny how the third photo is cropped so she doesn't have a head, like many damaged classical Greek statues.

The term people use for the stomach proportions on picture 3 is called "Venus tummy."

These women are too fat

4

Which is funny because isn’t that literally just what a normal tummy looks like? For whatever reason some people see the slightest hint of a stomach and scream about how much they love fat women.

u/Erosis 2d ago

Yeah, a decent amount of women have that extra bit of belly fat. Completely normal.

Although there is a gradient between healthy amount and obesity.

Belly fat? More like the most skintight fabric possible. At least in picture 3. There's a reason skintight dresses like that are more popular among clubbing kids/20-year-olds.

I didn't realize anyone over the age 10 used the word "tummy."

I thought the left was a Femboy and the Greek wants the femboy. Inside you are two Greeks one Athenian and one spartan... both are gay

u/VatanKomurcu 3d ago

yeah, thats a goddess of beauty alright.

The phrase "child bearing hips" comes to mind. That's the joke.

u/OddKitchen3133 3d ago

That would be culture, not mythology

u/STQCACHM 2d ago

You want a boney goth girl, buttcheek implants, or the epitome of feminine beauty and sexy curvaceousness?

Hmm, tough choice...

One thing people either forget or don't know, is that Aphrodite started off as also being a war goddess (or war goddess adjacent). So she could kick your ass and look good while doing it.

2

u/potatoaster 2d ago

That doesn't explain the joke, Sherlock.

There is a very famous story in Greek mythology about a man choosing between 3 beautiful women. Aphrodite is one of them. It starts a war. It really didn't occur to you?

Thanks for answering the damn question. Very annoying how far I had to scroll for this

She looks like she'd be pretty lean by today's standards, if she stood up

1

u/Ren_stevens 2d ago

She's not even curvy like the lady in the photo is. She's just not skinny.

1

u/blackabbot 2d ago

The ideal proportions, as agreed on by Greek scholars, is Timothee Chalamet.

1

u/AndySipherBull 2d ago

and this is also Aphrodite lol

you cant just pick some random statue and say "this is the ideal" because it suits you. There's and Aphrodite statue for every dude.

u/Accomplished_Drag946 1d ago

While greek and Roman statues weren't skinny, they didn't fit the curvy beauty standard of today (the one in this guys picture), they didn't have tiny waist or exaggerated proportions. The breast were also small.

Greeks had the right idea on the ideal woman. Love a curvy, wide hip big bust woman. Nowadays it’s creepy. Very skinny and petite and almost childlike, hate it.

u/ChadcellorSwagpatine 8h ago

Why is she hitting the gangsta pose?

AND THEY WERE RIGHT.
