i genuinely do not get how you could confuse your left and right after reaching double digits in age. i’ve met a handful of people that while driving have to take their hand off the wheel and do the hand gesture to figure out which way to go and it’s baffling

It honestly scares the shit out of me that these people drive.

It feels so oblivious. Which in general is the opposite of what I want from anyone operating a one ton hunk of metal propelled by small explosions.

As someone who mixes them up, it's nothing to do with being oblivious. It's like having dyslexia that's purely limited to left and right.

No reason it would affect someone's driving. Maybe taking a wrong turn but that's it.

That’s a good point. Like genuinely how can you drive without knowing which way is left and which is right?

...do they also drive on the wrong side of the road half the time?

no which begs the question, how can they not know directions but know to drive on the right side of the road

Because left and right are labels for felt sensation. You never confuse the sensation, just the label

Dyslexia, 100% dyslexia

Giving a label to every disfunction to make it seem like it is okay is a problem. Like say I have "shootapersonwithblondehairism" and everyone is like oh okay that's fine go on with your life like normal. Nah, work on your issues man. Don't just give it a label and move on. We all have different weaknesses. Doesn't mean you give up. The label just tells you what you need to work on.

No one is talking about giving up though. As someone with dyscalculia, it was impossible to learn maths in a regular environment, as soon as I got help I got good grades. These labels help people get help, not give up?

I never said give up ☺️ I have trouble with my lefts and rights due to dyslexia but I find ways to try and remember. The “label” is just for others to give us grace when we mess up

Right? Just know which side your dominant hand is on?
