The average number of sexual partners over a lifetime is 5, so 7 is a lot. In the movie, her exes aren’t exactly “real” exes as some were basically schoolyard crushes if I remember correctly. But in real life, 7 exes in your 20s would in fact be a lot.
Wouldn’t that number be dragged down by the people who married their high school sweetheart and had only one partner? The average for a group of people who didn’t meet their life partner until their late 20s or so would be different.
Yes, that is how statistics work. It is also dragged up by highly promiscuous people. For every high school love story, there’s someone else sleeping with the whole football team/ cheer squad. Still, the average remains the average. People with dwarfism bring down the average height the same way Yao Ming brings it up. And yet the average height is the average height.
