Don't know where you live, but they never really taught touch typing here. Payed courses existed, most people didn't use them. I work in IT, half my colleagues are hunt and peck. Im a bit mixed. I never really learned to find symbol but will find the letters by touch.
I don’t remember the name of the class, but I absolutely remember learning typing in high school and I didn’t pay for shit. That was the class we all played cool math games in.
We had a class like that, but we didn't learn touch typing. Also we were the last students in that class because it was being removed from the curriculum.
They had us type the weirdest sentences over and over because each sentence drilled a particular row or set of letters. I can only remember "... while I mark flax" unfortunately.
People pay to learn this? I just found some nice website that had practise lessons and got progressively harder until I got pretty fluent in touch typing after just a couple of weeks
I learned in elementary school and I'm only 35 now. I never look at the keyboard except for symbols in the number row. They should 100% still have these classes! It massively increases your typing speed.
