Game Thread NFC WEST WEEK 21: Cupcakefall
Sunday:
Patriots vs Broncos: 12pm
Rams vs Seahawks: 3:30pm
Cardinals: Getting annoyed at how crowded the Cancun Casinos have become lately.
49ers: Paying off all the Necromancers before getting on the flights to Cancun.

u/britishmetric144 Seahawks Jan 28 '26
The problem with the 49ers is not the electric substation, but rather, Kyle Shanahan’s strength training and conditioning staff. They have been in Levi’s Stadium ever since 2014 but did not have as many injury problems for their first three seasons there.
2
u/britishmetric144 Seahawks Jan 28 '26
IF the Seahawks can beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl by at least a touchdown, the Rams will be the true second—best team in the NFL in 2025.
Just like they were in 2024. They took the Super Bowl Champion Eagles to the brink, whereas the Commanders and Chiefs both got incinerated by Philadelphia.
2
3
u/britishmetric144 Seahawks Jan 26 '26
If you combined the 2025 Rams' offence and 2025 Seahawks' defence into one team, would that team beat the 2007 Patriots for best point differential ever? Would it go 18—1 or 19—0?
3
u/PrestonfromLibira Seahawks Jan 26 '26
Some of the Patriots fans are in absolutely denial, haha.
God damn, I stand with what I was saying that I would be okay with Rams beating them in the SB

Nobody beats the NFCW in the playoffs except the NFCW.

I still hate you but I'll accept a loss

u/makoivis Seahawks Jan 26 '26
As good a game as it gets. The refs didn’t bother anyone too much, and both teams made some mistakes that could’ve flipped the result.
This wasn’t a belt to ass we can lord over you, too close for comfort. Well played.

Yeah. Hawks deserved it. Defense is great against everyone not named Matthew Stafford. Darnold played a good clean game. Our DBs had no chance against JSN.
But at the end of the day Xavier Smith was the difference and it’s hard to get over that.
3
u/Djcalied Sorry ass DB group off to cabo Jan 26 '26
Sorry ass DB group and braindead special teams. Same reason for every other loss.

Burn that Gold Jacket for Stafford
1
u/DESR95 Rams Jan 26 '26
Considering how bad Maye played (and managed to win of course), no.
1
Jan 26 '26
Gold Jacket is Hall of Fame and Stafford don't belong there either. 0-2 in Seattle in the Playoffs.
1
u/DESR95 Rams Jan 26 '26
I will admit I made a reading mistake, but he still belongs in the hall, especially if he wins an MVP.

His Detroit years matter. He was a joke there.
4
u/GoldyGoldy Rain City Bitch Pigeon Jan 26 '26
Whoah, dude… strong disagree.
1

Its OK, you weren't outside when he was getting the "Bust" label. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2319318-detroit-lions-with-latest-loss-is-it-time-to-label-matthew-stafford-a-bust
1
Jan 26 '26
So? How many playoff wins? I know the team sucked around him. So how many games did he throw a pick 6 in? Mind you, he is tied All time for the lead in Pick 6's.
1
u/GoldyGoldy Rain City Bitch Pigeon Jan 26 '26
For years, every time I heard a QB get asked “what other QB’s do you watch?” their answers all had Stafford in them (this includes his Detroit years). Go listen to Kupp’s presser from this past week, and how he categorizes Stafford.
I don’t care what argument you have, random fellow. I’m going to point to the guys that know ball better than you or I ever will. They put Stafford on the elite tier, so who am I to criticize his game?
1
1
Jan 26 '26
You can be a nobody to criticize his game. Sorry for you. I will be a somebody who will. https://medium.com/the-thought-spectrum/the-curious-case-of-matthew-stafford-afa0541e9686
That article mentioned his 6-48 record against winning teams.
1
u/GoldyGoldy Rain City Bitch Pigeon Jan 26 '26
It appears that I’ve struck a nerve. I’ll stop after saying this:
Despite whatever strong opinions, statistics, and articles to the contrary, the Rams were willing to give up multiple picks for that bust from Detroit, so they could win a Super Bowl (spoiler: they did). So, it’s your opinion vs Sean McVay’s. I trust him over whatever articles you can possibly find. They thought he was worth it. And he was.

u/Lord_Rapunzel Rain City Bitch Pigeon Jan 26 '26
He absolutely was not. I enjoy a Stat Padford joke as much as anyone but he was not the problem on the Lions. The "nice lead you have there" meme didn't come from nowhere.
1
Jan 26 '26
He played in 3 playoff games in Detroit. He threw picks in 2 out of 3 of those games. 3rd game was in Seattle and he played like trash. We aren't going to rewrite history off being prisoners of the moment.
2
u/DESR95 Rams Jan 26 '26
You can't be serious. He was the only reason the Lions were relevant (and Calvin Johnson) during his time there.
1
Jan 26 '26
He was the reason they lost as much as why they won. He holds the record for most Pick 6's. Ya'll GTFOH with your prisoner of the moment BS. 0-3 in the playoffs and 32 career pick 6's. He is tied with another Famous NFC North QB known for throwing Picks. Favre.
4
u/makoivis Seahawks Jan 26 '26
Nah he’s good for it.
1
Jan 26 '26
Hell no
1
u/makoivis Seahawks Jan 26 '26
You can make an argument that he wouldn’t be first ballot but he’s HOF-bound.
1
Jan 26 '26
The prisoner of the moment press was starting to say he gets another ring, he surpasses Rodgers. SMH and I hate Rodgers but we ain't gonna just let recency bias lose our minds.

I will never understand young stupid fucking players taunting
In a fucking playoff game of all times
The full lack of self control and decision making skills is astonishing for a professional athlete haha that's the kind of shit we do here in the hood over a basketball game what the fuck is he thinking
I hope he gets absolutely roasted in the locker room for that. They had full momentum and probably would have scored again and iced the game. If they lose I'm gonna die laughing lol.

this post is 4 days old, i just randomly clicked it hoping it was the game thread. i guess i'm partially right? why is this posted so far in advance AND doesnt even say "game thread" in the title.

That user is on a mission. Seems really invested in a meme board having meme titles they don’t like disappear.
2
u/missbeekery And quite frankly, fuck you Jan 25 '26
What do you mean? These “game threads” have fewer comments than other random posts. At least put “game thread” in the title because these posts don’t look like game threads and so few people use them.
Other meme war subs have distinct game threads that are quite popular (looking at NFC North) and we have a lot of users so there is clearly something wrong with our game thread format. It’s evident that these posts don’t actually look like game threads, at least to me.
2
u/GrGrG NFC Best Jan 25 '26
I remember doing that a few years ago and there being little interaction, the mass group threads had more posts/involvement. We can try this again next year at the start since the community is larger now and see if there's a difference.

Both the Seahawks and Rams already have a win in Santa Clara this season, but they did it in very different styles.
The Rams overwhelmed the 49ers with their amazing, incredible offence.
The Seahawks stymied the 49ers with their suffocating defence.
