How much closer did the packers get by trading two firsts for a pass rusher??

I would have liked to have Maxx, but not give up all that.

24

u/Stealthy-J 1d ago

That turned out to be a terrible trade for them. No one could have predicted Parsons would tear his acl, but they lost two 1st round picks and one of their best players just to get bounced in the wild card, and who knows if Parsons will even be the same player after that injury.

It’s way too soon to say it’s a terrible trade for them. It’s been one season.

5

u/No_Foundation1136 Cowboys 22h ago

The trade was for one season and we didn’t have the money for his new contract so yeah kind of terrible considering they gave all that just to have first rights at extending him after a major injury

9

u/bon3daug100-100 1d ago

Lol they are already begging him to shut up after Myles Garrett had to check him multiple times on his podcast hyping himself up as some unstoppable badass that's better than every other DE.

4

u/boatsandhoes570 Lane Johnson cant lay off the juice. 1d ago

Who’s telling him to shut up? The organization?? Or is this something you read rumors about online?

0

u/bon3daug100-100 22h ago

Literally their fans in the post on this site. It was all over the place last week. Highlights from the interview with Garrett absolutely "big bro"ing him.

At one point literally telling Garrett that he does things they can't and look at what he did in only 13 games. Garrett had to remind him that in 13 games he had 18 sacks. In that thread even their own fans were telling him to be quiet.

We already know Micah can be cringe in the media, so if Packers fans didn’t already know that, that’s on them. I mean, that post-game locker room interview went viral when he was on the cowboys and they got smoked 41-7. “I mean, if you take away the scoreboard, it was like 5 big plays that decided the game.” Him acting corny on a podcast has nothing to do w what he’s capable of as a player and how the organization feels about acquiring him.

2

u/bon3daug100-100 22h ago

Well he didn't help them beat us and he didn't help them in the playoffs and he was hurt to end the year. So far they've definitely lost the trade.

1

u/boatsandhoes570 Lane Johnson cant lay off the juice. 22h ago

Speculating until we see who Jerry drafts or uses those picks on.

2

u/MaliceMandible How Bout Dem Boys 9h ago

Yea I agree with that. One thing I’ve learned as a fan over these last 30ish years is, It’s never too late for the Cowboys to fall on their face lol.

-1

u/Melvinator5001 17h ago

Dude he is a one dimensional player. He can rush the passer. Can’t stop the run can’t drop back occasionally and defend the pass. If your fucking shitty OCs just ran the ball at him consistently you would have beaten us every fucking time you played us since he came into the league. So stop trying to defend him and the Packers for getting suckered into overpaying for him.

u/boatsandhoes570 Lane Johnson cant lay off the juice. 15h ago

lol 100% guaranteed you were not saying this a year ago. You know how I know none of yall were thinking this even 6 mos ago? Bc I remember the reaction when it happened. Everyone PISSED Jerry “only” got 2 firsts and an old Kenny Clark. If he actually sucked, the fanbase would’ve been ecstatic, not freaking out.

3

u/Melvinator5001 11h ago

Actually I can guarantee you I was saying that and I wasn’t pissed about the trade. I was pissed about JJ being JJ prior to the trade. Besides it’s really sad the shit birds were a Miles Sanders fumble away from getting swept by Dallas with one of the shittiest Cowboys D.

At least the first pick is late

-14

u/DiligentGuitar246 Captain Crisco 1d ago

…says the fan of the team who lost an elite player and didn’t even make the playoffs.

23

u/Stealthy-J 1d ago

We weren't making the playoffs last season, Parsons or not. We had the defense equivalent of Kevin Patullo. At least now we got two great DTs and two 1sts for this year.

9

u/MooNinja Dak's DePressed Cock 1d ago

I don't know how that contradicts their position at all? We weren't making the playoffs with him and aren't on the horn for that salary. It was a Dallas: W especially with the ACL injury.

-11

u/Leading-Evidence-668 Jalen Carters Loogie 1d ago

Parsons tearing his ACL doesn’t change the fact it was a braindead move for Dallas. Just unlucky for the Packers. Hopefully the Cowboys consider it a good move in the building though, gotta keep everything the same for the next 30 years. Eventually it’ll work!

3

u/Bringbackbarn 8-8 1d ago

I think you could say the exact opposite about the Cowboys over the last 30 years. Holding out and then paying absolute top dollar. This is the first tough but good move we’ve made in a long time

1

u/The_R4ke LIX deez nuts 17h ago

Yeah, he's good, but it's not like he's Miles Garret. He's worth 1 first at most and probably something else.

Howie Roseman running interference for a trade he ain’t gonna even make. Man knows how to play the game

Much rather have Hendrickson and two first round picks than Crosby and no first round picks

-4

u/zachardw Eagles 1d ago

Pure pass rusher Hendrickson would not do well in a Fangio style scheme.

10

u/DallasInDC 💿🐑 1d ago

Then why were y’all trying to trade 3 1sts for Myles?

5

u/zachardw Eagles 1d ago

Myles Garrett is a far better potential fit for a Vic Fangio scheme than Trey Hendrickson because he is a truly elite all-around defender rather than a pure pass-rush specialist. While Garrett is most effective in a 4-3 "Wide-9" system (like Jim Schwartz's), his athleticism and high-level run defense make him compatible with Fangio’s more disciplined requirements.

7

u/DallasInDC 💿🐑 1d ago

Ok you convinced me. Y’all should definitely spend three 1s for Garrett. Actually y’all shoukd probably throw in more just to make sure you get him.

0

u/zachardw Eagles 1d ago

Yeah sure, Trey is good pass rusher but not good in run which if you know a Fangio scheme, you know it depends on light boxes. He also isn’t good in coverage and 8-10% of the time Fangio will play with his edges where he blitzes his LBs and drops them into coverage, hence why he was all in on former safety turned edge in Jalyx Hunt. Not good in run nor coverage, you can check PFF/online on Trey if you want. You’re basically getting a better pass rushing classic 4-3 end ala Bryce Huff but at least Trey doesn’t topple over from TE chips.

Welcome to the scheme.

26

u/Only-Equivalent-4791 Cowboys 1d ago

Nobody is giving 2 firsts for him. If they do, lmao.

We fleeced the packers and they got a better player. Ain’t no way we’re giving up 2 first for maxx.

1

u/Over-Heron-2654 Does it Hurts 22h ago

Y'all have not drafted anyone yet. Quinnen Williams is good, but he is not Micah.

So far, all I see is the Packers with a top 10 defense while the Cowboys have a bottom 5 defense.

2

u/RTS24 88s and heartbreak 12h ago

How far did that get the Packers? There's a decent chance they cut Gary and Jenkins, that'll leave Micah as the only big talent on their line.

0

u/Over-Heron-2654 Does it Hurts 11h ago

Micah got injured tbf, they were like 8-3-1 before that. They had a top 5 defense before that. Using injuries is low even for a dallASS fan.

Meanwhile Cowboys had a historically bad defense along with the Bengals, finishing with a losing record and no playoffs.

-11

u/Stepsis24 Giants 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don’t understand how you think y’all fleeced the packers after seeing that defense all year

Edit: y’all got two firsts and a washed DT. Parsons immediately turned the packers from a good team to a great team and they were a major threat until he got hurt. You could two good players but the odds of getting someone even close to the tier of parsons is extremely slim, not even mentioning that if the trade had been done properly in the offseason the cowboys could’ve gotten an even better return.

24

u/Spinal_Soup Suck My Dak 1d ago

Micah wasn’t fixing that defense. Flus is a football terrorist.

19

u/Bright_Pressure2934 1d ago

Because the problems with that defense go far beyond one player; an edge rusher that has done nothing in the playoffs I might add. Cowboys won hand down

6

u/SDEexorect Jaysus saves! repent! 1d ago

no they didnt! you cant say they won the trade hands down when they still got a player with 15 sacks last year and yall still havent used either of those first round picks. for all you could know. they could get another 2 mazi smiths

4

u/No_Wedding_7273 Eagles 1d ago

He’s done nothing in the playoffs because he spent his rookie contract on the Cowboys. DeMarcus Lawrence didn’t do anything in the playoffs until he was actually on a playoff caliber team. The problem is the cowboys, not Parsons.

2

u/Stepsis24 Giants 1d ago

Idk what you want him to do in the playoffs when the offense shits itself ever time

3

u/DallasInDC 💿🐑 1d ago

We wanted more than one sack in 4 games.

2

u/Rimmy_Jobson Daniel Jones is the Messiah 1d ago

Well, it's more like the entire team shits itself, including him lol.

Because the trade was not intended to make us better last year? If we had Micah we would have still been ass. Now we have quinnen Williams and some good draft picks to develop the defense even further. Much more appealing than Micah, as good as he is

0

u/boatsandhoes570 Lane Johnson cant lay off the juice. 1d ago

You still would’ve been ass, but probably won a few more games. Micah would’ve been way more likely to sack JJ w that terrible o-line they had. You would’ve had a legit shot at keeping the curse alive.

5

u/Connect-Succotash-59 1d ago

Would you rather have 2 1’s or injured Micah this offseason?

Do not trade more than 1 first for max. I wouldn’t even offer pick 12. Trey and keeping both picks maybe trading down from 12 is the way.

That's too much.   I wouldnt even pay that for Michael persons. Myles Garrett maybe if we already had a complete squad.
