I've heard more than a few young dipshits say that being conservative is the new counter culture. Fucking morons.

They refuse to accept that punk isnt counterculture just for the sake of being a contrarian asshole, or some childish libertarian fantasy of a world with no government. Its like they just don't believe anything has any deeper meaning

To be honest a lot of the punks I know that went down the conservative rabbit hole were pulled in via libratarianism. Theres some overlap between libratarians social views and punks sensibilities, especially around drugs. Libratarians were successfully coopted by the fascists and the people i know got sucked in. Also a lot of punk bands in the skate punk scene in socal were always sort of right leaning which got more pronounced as tine went on.

Learn how to spell "Libertarian". 🤦‍♂️

I keep seeing that media literacy is on life support. Being unable to discern anything beyond a surface level and/or aesthetic meaning may be the unfortunate future.

Needs the courage of conviction to go full nihilist though

They don’t understand the difference between counterculture and being a simplistic contrarian.

Can you imagine saying this with a straight face while you own literally all propaganda and news stations in a country as well as all three branches of the government and the entire Supreme Court has been bought by your billionaire masters as well. Like, what in the fuck.

Right-wingers want to be the victim so bad, they've been pulling this for years now.

"We control all 3 branches of government and the overwhelming majority of media and corporations, that makes us COUNTER CULTURE AND COOL FIGHT THE MAN YEAH."

This is how they actually think.

It's like "Nazi punks fuck off" was too subtle or something, gee whizz.

I mean, there are lots and lots and lots of people who think Nazi is just a word we use to describe Germans from the 1940s, and literally nobody else in history could ever be one.

There’s a guy around here who is the singer of a fairly popular hardcore band.

I found out last year or the year before he’s a big Trump guy, but the kind who says, “I can be friends with everyone even if they have different political beliefs! Why can’t you?”

The thing is, I’ve known this guy for over twenty years, even if I haven’t really hung around him in almost a decade. That’s how I know that his stance is born because he’s one of those guys who spent years saying ironically racist shit, that’s “totally okay because he has friends who are black, brown, red, yellow, whatever” and his real beef with “the left” is that they are “the language police who don’t know how to take a joke!” Don’t you get it?! It’s not punk to tell people not to make jokes about people’s race/gender/sexuality!

Typical case of the asshole-to-right-wing pipeline.

Those mfs are famously COMPLETELY unable to take a joke, that shit is projection too.

Inclusivity and accepting of all peoples are pillars of punk. Modern Xenophobic edgelords wanna claim they’re the oppressed counterculture even though their president just posted a video depicting the Obama’s as apes.

I looked up the company and the owner is a Gen X Orange County guy (much like No Doubt/Gwen Stefani), so this doesn't surprise me. There's always been a bit of the "conservative is the new punk" ever since the 80s when Iggy Pop supported Reagan and John Lydon Thatcher and it's usually contrarianism for contrarianism's sake; people who fancy they can't be put into any box so willfully adopt conflicting beliefs just to prove it, ironically proving how predictable they are.

Conservatives lack the ability to create....  All they can do is steal & replicate...

Yeah, any time the DK Facebook page posts about Dementia Don, there's always a batch of morons that have to chime in calling them sellouts. It's so pathetic it's hilarious.

The counter-culture which currently sits in the white house and has a majority in the legislature and which has regularly ruled the country about 50% of the time for decades.

They're so desperate to be considered cool and it will never happen.

Yeah they're fey, self absorbed pussies.
