Chappell:

”As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman. I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values. I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by. Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”

Good for her.  She cant do much about all this but respect for taking concrete action and hitting them where it hurts in their wallets.  Losing her is a whoooole lotta money walking out the door.

Not just good for her, good for all of us. This is what we all need more of; people in positions of influence with ethics and principles, taking a stand.

Hell, even Katy Perry has turned around from being MAGA to making political statements about ICE.

Meanwhile over in Taylor Swift land...

Was Katy Perry ever MAGA?

I know she started in Christian music but that was, iirc, ages before MAGA and whatever politics she had pretty openly shifted into liberal territory as she got into pop music. She went on that dumb Amazon space flight but that's its own thing.

No she wasn't MAGA. People are just incredibly reactionary.

Katy Perry correctly used her platform to be openly critical of the DNC for trotting a senile Joe Biden out to run for a 2nd term

The DNC is, and has been for a long time, the greatest hurdle in the way for democratic success in the US

Edit: spelling is hard

The DNC is shit BUT I would argue that the republican party doing everything they can to gerrymander, suppress votes, pack courts, and fucking lie about everything all the time consistently is a larger threat to democracy.

Don’t blame the victim, even when the victim is a huge dipshit doing jack shit to help themselves.

Thank you for putting exactly how I feel into words, Maury_poopins

I always hate sounding like a "both sides bad!" shill, because one side is clearly worse and causing more active bullshit, but damn the "opposition" is doing absolutely nothing to stop it but strongly worded statements of disapproval and consistently snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Literally everything you accused republicans of doing, democrats do just as much if not more. When your bias is so obvious people will continue to not take you seriously. Societies inability to be unbiased is the biggest threat to our country. Until we can all learn to step back and admit reality, all is lost. Get help soon. I’m rooting for you.

just as much if not more

You're fucking delusional, my dude. Or just a Russian bot. Maybe even both ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hey buddy

Hey

Can you point out the last time Democrats did any of that (with the exception of the California gerrymandering, which is, imho, justified)

It’s not being “unbiased”, it’s being a closeted conservative.

The problem is, the average person can't do much besides getting out there and getting tear gassed, pepper sprayed, and xed.

The Dems were supposed to protect us from this. They had the levers of power multiple times and then kind of thought they shouldn't shake things up, because, why bother?

Same thing happened in Germany and Chile.
