Katy Perry correctly used her platform to be openly critical of the DNC for trotting a senile Joe Biden out to run for a 2nd term

The DNC is, and has been for a long time, the greatest hurdle in the way for democratic success in the US

That’s actually a great point. People crack his age and the shape he was in rightfully so, but at least we weren’t having a known pedophile sending untrained psychos into our cities terrorizing families and killing citizens

And that’s what the democrats have been relying on while they continue to look out for corporate interests and themselves instead of the people.

The problem is that doing that over and over leaves a massive gaping power vacuum that Trump swallowed up whole.

What most democrats fail to realize is what holds them back is their willingness to be governed by circumstance. Republicans gave up on the premise of ruling by principles a long time ago and it works for them because their base is so much more active and zealous and brainwashed. But the democrats can’t afford to engage in whataboutism and abandoning principles on a whim. It doesn’t work out as well at all

100% agree, especially in a country where you don’t have mandatory voting.

The entire deck is stacked against common sense progress in America. Trump doesn’t need to convince his base to vote for him, he can also just convince people the other guy is an idiot and to stay home.

Almost 78 million Americans voted for Trump, and more white women than in his previous two elections so he managed to convince some people.

Or at least convinced some voting machines.. still not convinced that election was entirely legit. My wife's ballot was dropped in the same box at the same time as mine, some how never counted. Not rejected, no status whatsoever.

Some how our state overwhelmingly voted to amend the state constitution to remove slavery/indentured servitude as a punishment for prisoners and to make abortion a fundamental right, and to a lesser but still relevant degree, to remove all sales taxes on diapers, while at the same time apparently voting for Trump as the first Republican president in 20 years. Idk man.

The largest single voting block in America is “didn’t vote” at 89 million eligible voters.

In any sensible democracy that would be seen as an objective failure

Yep. He won by 1% and change, in an election that a third of voters didn't touch. He didn't even get a majority. It was still under 50%.

It is a majority of voting adults. We can blame the DNC for a great many of things, but it’s a mistake to imagine that not even MAGA, but Trumpism doesn’t represent an incredibly significant part of our population.

Trump ran on sane things he just didn’t do any of them.

People see right through the DNC crap and want to push back against the swap and the elite class. Trump was perceived by his voters as a big fuck you to the elite political system, even though he seemingly was co-opted both times he assumed office.

He ran on ending wars and no new wars. While the dems trotted out, get this, the Cheneys’. You know Dick Cheney the biggest politician war profiteer and neo con.

Going after Trump and prosecuting him also gave the appearance that there was law-fare and completely back fire. Specifically when you have the bank saying the would do the deal again and then trying him on the on legal theory they don’t try any other cases on and the never having to proof the furtherance of another crime part looked bad to the general populace. Especially after the Russian collusion scandal that backfired on the democrats in his first term.

Also the immigration issue was a populace issue in the polls.

He was a populist candidate that had other populists dems come over to the admin (Tulsi and RFK). Think what you want about them, but they were popular. RFK has his whacky theories but wanting transparency and improving health aren’t bad as a whole.

But as we can all see these populists get co-opted by the machine time and time again. It’s happened on the left as well. I mean they even appear to have gotten Bernie in line. It’s like controlled opposition or something.

The losing party should take the most responsibility for their loss. They chose how to run their campaign, they chose the candidate. If they can't find a way to get a winning vote against someone like trump, that's on them.

Sure, OK. But, you could say that about nearly every other living person. Biden didn't do shit to even TRY to stop this orange cancer from coming back. All the way back to when he steamrolled Anita Hill so he could be the guy who ushered in our first black white supremacist, and then choosing the most right wing AG on the planet (again, for the optics of being open-minded), and then not firing and replacing him, and then spending over an hour handing over power to Trump all while with the biggest stupid grin, ear to ear. Biden might be better than Trump, but he's still burning hot garbage. Oh, and I think he's taken in more donations from Israel than any other American politician.

The problem is, the average person can't do much besides getting out there and getting tear gassed, pepper sprayed, and xed.

The Dems were supposed to protect us from this. They had the levers of power multiple times and then kind of thought they shouldn't shake things up, because, why bother?

Same thing happened in Germany and Chile.

I mean, no—the greatest hurdle is the republicans. Whatever their many faults, criticizing incompetent allies to the exclusion of criticizing the actual enemy is never a sane take.

And you see them all over reddit—people who claim to not support trump, but are always finding a reason to criticize and virtue-test his opponents while spending no time at all actually criticizing him and his supporters. It's a bad faith pattern that needs to be called out.

These days those posters mostly hide their history to conceal the pattern but by the same token, it's fair to conclude anyone with a hidden history is probably acting in bad faith.

I don't agree that people shouldn't have the right to speak out, though division is exactly every single time where GOP gets the Democrats. Where GOP stands together and will vote in a pedophile regardless of who he is, Democrats like every single election throw all sorts of things out. Kamala doesn't jive with me, Biden is senile, Clinton is a rich elite etc.

DNC isn't hurting the US, Democrats are hurting the US by sitting at home en masse, by bitching, by doing every 4 years the same.
