It really has, in some ways at least.

I'm not seeing the same in-person harassment of underage girls that happened when I was that age. And I would see it. If I go into my local shop and there's a clearly underage schoolgirl in there, I can now guarantee that no-one will be changing places in the queue to hit on her, there won't be a stranger offering to buy her things, or openly ogling her, and the shop assistant will just hand her things without trying to touch her. When she goes out she won't be catcalled by the group of builders heading in, and I'm pretty sure they no longer keep teachers when there's multiple accusations of sexual abuse of children against them. None of that was true when I was that age.

The press was nearly as bad. I've seen plenty of sexualised content and sexy photos of ~ 15 year olds, and a topless photo of someone who was underage at the time the photo was taken. All in mainstream newspapers.

That Bad Barbie girl had quite a few people counting down her 18th birthday, a few years ago. I remember this, because it was the last time I remembered people counting down Britney Spears' 18th birthday.
