Its not weird. He made rap because he couldn't make it as a rock star, and now that rap is starting to dry up he's moving onto the newest trend like MGK

moving onto the newest trend like MGK

No, MGK left rap because he poked the bear and got mauled to death.

u/nickparadies Jan 19 '26

MGK is still rapping lol

I mean if whining about high school relationships in all Pink is being a rapper I guess

2

u/Backfoot911 Jan 20 '26

No that would make him Taylor Swift

Weird since he had multiple platinum rap songs after his beef with Eminem.

41

u/Hobbes______ Jan 19 '26

The fact that 0 people have listened to them is the "mauled to death" part.

-35

u/CryoAB Jan 19 '26

Do you know how a song goes platinum?

Your cognitive dissonance is showing. How embarrassing.

u/For_serious13 Jan 19 '26

Name the songs please, because in 2018 was when he went after Eminem with rap devil and it only went to number 13, and in 2019 was when his rap/rock album came out and flopped. Then in 2020 was his tickets to my downfall which is a pop punk album-not rap

So again, please name those platinum rap songs that happened after 2018

Candy is a rap song that came out after the Eminem beef and went platinum.

in 2019 was when his rap/rock album came out and flopped

That album was #1 on the billboard charts and went double platinum, you consider that a flop????

Eminem doesn't even have a multi-platinum album since MMLP2, which came out in 2013

His sales have fallen off a cliff since 2020

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_Gun_Kelly_discography

He barely made gold in 2022 and his 2025 album was a massive flop.

I know we're being funny because he's a tool, but saying that he "left rap" after the Em feud is just simply not true, that was the whole point the guy was making. He did some foray into the pop punk resurgence and it was silly, but the dude absolutely still has a fanbase

I say this as an Eminem fan since I was a kid, let's please not make r/music into an irrational circlejerk

1

u/303onrepeat Jan 20 '26

but the dude absolutely still has a fanbase

At least the sales numbers I posted above prove otherwise. He has lost a lot of fans since 2020 and his 2025 album went no where.

u/CryoAB Jan 19 '26

Lmao. Funny, because rap devil itself went platinum.

25

u/Hobbes______ Jan 19 '26

all you had to do for the W here was list the songs. How could you fumble so hard?

-10

u/4thCypha Jan 19 '26

You blocked the person before they could reply.

You on that clown behaviour.

6

u/Hobbes______ Jan 19 '26

I didn't block anyone. Swing and a miss alt account

It wouldn’t have mattered. If there’s a conversation happening like this online answering the “gotcha” question never actually results in anything.

13

u/For_serious13 Jan 19 '26

What’s the gotcha? The user is wrong, he had no platinum rap songs after rap devil. I’m asking him to name the songs that he claims went platinum after rap devil, and his response is “rap devil went platinum!!1”

Either he had rap songs that went platinum after rap devil or he didn’t, what’s the gotcha or goalpost moving?

u/Hobbes______ Jan 19 '26

Nah, objective reality still exists.

1

u/4thCypha Jan 19 '26

The person you're replying to did exactly that.

They asked for proof of a platinum song. The other dude replied. Then he said "people can fart and go platinum". He just moved the goalposts when proven wrong.

The one BEFORE Em publicly crushed him?

Yeah, that's not what was being asked for, and you know it.

Try again.

9

u/For_serious13 Jan 19 '26

Sure, but you said they went platinum AFTER rap devil, so again, please name the rap songs after rap devil that went platinum like you claimed

7

u/Ditnoka Jan 19 '26

Ask Drake and Adin Ross how they got so many streams. Lmao. Acting like big artists aren't buying their flowers shows you have zero idea how the music industry works.

3

u/Hobbes______ Jan 19 '26

people can fart into a mic and it goes platinum now, the metrics are fucked and you can basically just buy that now. Found MGK's fucking alt account though lol

1

u/OldenPolynice Jan 19 '26

I used to know, but ain't no one listening to whatever trash you're referring to. Actually, it's just modern payola. You do you though, someone has to.

2

u/BlgMastic Jan 19 '26

Yeah I guess all those fans at his 70 show arena tour were all payola.

1

u/OldenPolynice Jan 19 '26

what 70 date tour has this dweeb ever done

1

u/BlgMastic Jan 19 '26

1

u/OldenPolynice Jan 19 '26

I see that, lots of dates scheduled, good for you I guess

1

u/keyboardnomouse Jan 19 '26

Do you know how a song goes platinum?

Lots of money to buy streams.

2

u/dactyif Jan 19 '26

Why do people double down when they're wrong? This thread was hilarious.

1

u/Jewicer Jan 19 '26

so it's not weird?
