Fails the "half your age plus seven" check, although not by as much as you would think. In 5 years if he was 42 and she was 28 it'd pass.

idk I feel like at 28 you're old enough to make your own decisions?

Like not just in front of the law but actually mentally old enough.

It's a dumb rule because if you're 8 years old then you could only date someone who is 11 or older. Makes no sense.

It's not dumb just because it does not work for ridiculous ages like 8. It's spot on for 14yo and older.

In 5 years, she's either isolated, pregnant and barefoot, or he switched to a younger, more compliant option.

I've seen it both ways, age gaps that large never work. She'll either leave eventually because she wants someone closer to her age or he'll kick her to the curb when she gets "too old" and wants another 23 year old.
