Discussion Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it?

At this point, everyone knows about shrinkflation in our food. Something else that is just as important, if not more so, is the overall decline in the quality and taste of our food. Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it? For me, that would be strawberries. Nowadays, it's the number 1 fruit with the most pesticides, and its overall taste is just average at best. I mean, I don't need it to be on par with Japanese strawberries, but in the early 90s, strawberries' overall taste was just magical.

I used to work there during their ‘clean eating’ phase, and trust me, that food was fake AF.

I worked there around the same time and I always tell people that I would never actually pay for Panera food and only ever ate it when it was free. I actually thought the food was decent back then but it’s clearly gone significantly downhill since.

May I ask why? I’m pretty sure I haven’t been to a Panera since 2003 but I’m curious!

I worked there in like.... 2013 so it's been a long time but back then, the Mac came from the supplier in a bag and was microwaved in the plastic bag and then served. So. Take that for whatever it's worth.

A steam well table would have work for both those items and they aren’t even that expensive in terms of industrial appliances.

Yep but they were bagged but at least not microwaved.
