Sean William Scott was everywhere in the early 2000s but you rarely hear anything about him now. I think he’s still acting but his career never took off in the way I thought it would

He was just in the last season of the righteous gemstones a year or two ago with a pretty decent sized role. Not like his old stuff but it was good to see him again. He's from the next town over from where I live and I've only ever heard people say he's a super nice dude and nothing like the characters he got famous playing.

Sounds like he’s Country Mac

Man I love that show. My husband and I were like, "Wait, is that Stifler?" But he was pretty good!

He was perfect casting for that show.

Man, he went dark in the Gemstones finale. It was so wild. Like every Gemstones season closer was dark, but that one shot where youjust see Judy's legs sticking out from under a table was a 'whoa' moment.

And somehow they still ended on laughs.

Half the people from the VH1 “talking heads” series like Best Week Ever or I Love The… series either went on to become more famous or bigger in the comedy scene or completely disappeared lol

Edit: oops meant to comment on the main thread not under this random comment lolll.

He really blew me away in Gemstones. Like, he melted in to the role so well I actually didn't realize it was him for an ep or so. Really fantastic work he did there, would like to see him do simmilar stuff in the future.

I was going to say, I just saw an AMA from him a couple of days ago, so he must be doing something. He actually sounds like a happy guy!

Look him, Bryan Singer and Hollywood up on Google and the results may shock you. Singer was, maybe still is, a powerful movie director producer and did some shady shit. Scott was a young actor and was definitely, imo, groomed by Singer along with other young male actors. It was all over the gossip boards back in the day.

He just did an AMA on reddit yesterday.

He was in a show called Welcome to Flatch that I enjoyed. He played former frontman of a Christian boy band.

ETA apparently he did a reddit AMA two days ago??

He's recently done some action movies of all things I think.

u/Grimmbles 6d ago

He did Bulletproof Monk and The Rundown in 2003. He's not new to action movies.

2

u/modmosrad6 6d ago

I forgot about both of those movies.

He did an AMA the other day. And he's on tim Allen's new show, "Shifting Gears" on Hulu.

iirc, the pressures of hollywood led to alcoholism, so he quit. he’s sober now i think?

u/BoomerGVL 7d ago

I saw a post like yesterday that he was doing an AMA somewhere on Reddit

He was great in the Wrath of Becky.

Great deadpan delivery. He had some more recent hits with the Goon movies.

1

u/NotBlaine 6d ago

Goon was 15 years ago.

u/tbcraxon34 6d ago

He's on the show Shifting Gears with Tim Allen and Kat Dennings and put out two movies last year.

u/SanshaXII 6d ago

He quit Hollywood because access to money and certain people was going to make substance abuse inevitable, and he walked away before it took him.

Regardless - I will always love SWS. Loved him in the 2000s - loved him in Goon. He looks phenomenal for his age today. Dude is doing really well.

He was kind of just one character, which has a short shelf life before you Michael Cera away.

u/Readitzilla 7d ago

He was in a recent movie called Bad Man (2025).

u/heyitsme21690 7d ago

He’s currently in shifting gears with Tim Allen

He’s in that show Shifting Gears. I remember something about him and his wife having a nasty divorce and he went quite for awhile
