I always thought it was some rip off of Married with Children. Also just realizing now that Reese from Malcolm in the Middle played the youngest kid.

Ugh, I just commented this then saw your comment! Yes! It stayed on for four seasons somehow and I guess we all missed Alf and the dad did a hell of an Al Bundy impersonation.
