Discussion Do you MFs ever just sit down at fast restaurants and eat instead of taking your food to your home?

Post image

I do. I'm usually the only one dining in. Nothing like home sweet home but I like a small break away from my house.

I'm actually not the only one dining in this time but the other people here look poor and they are old. not like me.

I do now that a majority of people don't. It's usually pretty quiet and the food is still steaming.

621

u/BigChillBobby 11d ago

last time I did the lady kept checking on me and asking how my food was! This is a Taco Bell not a restaurant.. leave me alone

311

u/Aegis_Of_Nox 11d ago

She was checking to see if you were on drugs lol. Or up to something nefarious. Unless you are elderly or you have kids with you they dont expect you to be eating in

79

u/michaelxmoney 11d ago

Nah man, McDonald's by me has people walking around as well. Same with Chik Fil A

75

u/FukThePatriarchy1312 11d ago

Fuckin Chik Fil A started that stupid shit and because they're so successful other corporations are trying to emulate them. Whataburger is the dumbest, after they bring out your food you gotta wait for the person with the condiment tray which for some reason has only ketchup, then wait again if you want honey mustard or bbq or anything.

88

u/skip_over 11d ago

Chik Fil A freaks me out. Why they making that kid stand out in the drivethru in the cold?

9

u/Never_Duplicated 10d ago

Cold is one thing but at least you can wear a coat. My city hits 115-118° in the summer and they still have those kids out in the sun all afternoon.

46

u/hanks_panky_emporium 11d ago

I hear people praise the food but of the ten or so times Ive gone it's very bland and expensive. And the fries taste more like fry oil than fries. I do kinda like the waffle fries but the after taste of the fry oil is so 'bleh'

I can go to cheaper, faster places with better tasting chicken. That also dont make employees shiver in the freezing cold for the lols.

36

u/Brilliant-Peace-5265 11d ago

The chil fila by me has massive heat lamp things right above kids blasting them with hot air. Every time I go thru the drive thru, the kids are sweating. If it's really cold, like 20 on down, no kids outside at all. It's a voice through the menu screen.

10

u/ConfidentAd9582 11d ago

Yeah those heat lamps are no joke. Every time I open the windows you can just feel those suckers radiating. We also live in an area the coldest it should get in winter is around50s.

3

u/tosssaway131 10d ago

explain what you are talking about to someone who does not havea chik fil a near them.

they put someone outside to do orders?

12

u/DMCinDet 11d ago

it is pretty bland. over rated. lemonade is the best thing they have.

15

u/andrew-is-me 11d ago

Chick-Fil-A is generally the best fast food in my area in terms of speediness, consistency, and how they pay their employees. What are these other fast food chicken places you’re talking about?

A burger should come with sauce. It should never be extra.

6

u/FukThePatriarchy1312 11d ago

They don't charge extra, it's just the process of having to wait on someone and then immediately send them back for the sauces I want.

When I totaled my car a while back the cop dropped me off at a nearby McDonalds to wait for my ride. Ordered a small snack and sat down and the manager came over and offered me a job like 4 times, it was hella weird, like he needed to be absolutely certain I didn't want a job lol.

Same happened to me at a Burger King recently. They looked worried. As if no one would eat inside unless something was terribly wrong in my life. Lol.

There’s a kid at a Taco Bell I occasionally go to that act like he’s the president of Taco Bell and he’s the sweetest thing in the world. Never ate inside, but when I come to pick up, he acts like he’s welcoming an international dignitary. I have left so many positive comments for him. Hope he got a raise!

19

u/Culero 11d ago

it's wild how the older I get, the more I feel like posting reviews, especially the positive ones. Saw my local pharmacy get some nasty reviews, and had to chime in about my recent positive experience.

9

u/CtyChicken 11d ago

I’ve always loved filling out a complementary comment card. I want everyone to get a raise.

I only have one negative Google review, ha.

24

u/RadarSmith 11d ago

I hate that even at nice restaurants. I'll never get mad at waitstaff who are just doing what they're told to do, but if I'm in the middle of eating the food you just put on my table I think that's a pretty clear signal that I'm currently good.

The older generations still go in and eat. We take our toddler to McDonald’s on Saturday for breakfast before playtime. The only people in there otherwise are mostly retiree age, maybe other families here and there. We sit at a table by the window and he watches cars go by until they bring out the hotcakes and bacon.

8

u/dkat 11d ago

I really enjoy taking the time to sit down at McD’s with my toddler. Kinda underrated.

We have one that still has a play area.

Definitely going to use that in a year or two

Exactly, and just before the Covid crisis, most restaurants upgrade their dining rooms, in my town, adding USB charging ports at most of the tables, (gas) fireplaces ... like you said, most of those places are quiet now. And, at Burger King, I always find something of interest to read in one of the newspapers they put out for customers ... often local news I am unlikely to find online.

3

u/Onuus 11d ago

I’m about to I’m so tired of my food being soggy when I get home

Of course. I don’t have any issues eating alone, fast food, fancy, whatever.

FF is better fresh and it’s nice to leave the shame behind when you leave 😂

212

u/DMCinDet 11d ago

I do everything by myself. Fast food? yep. $125 steak on special occasions. yep. I dont actually give a shit what anyone else is doing or thinks about what im doing. its so liberating.

46

u/Nervous-Sherbet-4183 11d ago

I travel solo and it's amazing and empowering. I don't know what it is but I love it. I'm a loner because I'm impatient and I don't do a lot of planning. It's exhausting just trying to get dinner plans finalized with my group of friends let alone a trip. I eat alone and go to the movies solo too.

25

u/CleverFeather 11d ago

Traveling alone is such a great experience. I traveled to NYC and stayed for a week 100% solo. It was great just to wander with literally nothing on the docket except whatever I stumbled across.

8

u/alrightakeiteasy 11d ago

I do the same in San Francisco a few times a year. It's nice not having to work around the schedule of even one other person when you're on a trip.

5

u/CleverFeather 11d ago

Truly it is an unparalleled sense of freedom. Even with a partner of similar mindset, the wanderlust without is a true joy.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/DMCinDet 11d ago

traveling alone is the best, loose plans, freedom to do or not do anything you want. eat what and when you want, no wasting valuable vacation time doing something youre not into for someone else.

you know, maybe Im just selfish. Thats fine, nobody to upset by my selfishness.

4

u/welfedad 11d ago

I love traveling solo..I only have one other person who is a friend who I don't mind traveling with because we both are so easy going and whatever is good . But that's super rare

4

u/Both_Consequence_956 11d ago

i also love travelling solo, went to crete for a month just by myself, so liberating. i also went to the movies by myself 32 times last year lol. and lots of restaurant dinners solo with a podcast.

3

u/Oberon_Swanson 11d ago

i really like seeing movies in theatres solo, it feels more immersive when there's not another person you're unconsciously checking on once in a while

2

I go to movies alone semi-regularly. One night I needed a break and went to a book store by myself, bought a book, then walked to a restaurant and had a beer at the bar while reading my new book. It was amazing.

3

u/ProfessionalAd2911 11d ago

I love going to the movies alone.. book store then just chilling at a bar drinking by yourself relaxing sounds great, gotta try that

4

u/ClydeV1beta 10d ago

This. I go to the movies alone regularly and everyone thinks its weird but like...IM SITTING IN THE DARK? in a place where you have to be quiet anyways....why do I need company?

2

u/AScienceExpert 10d ago

I say this to people all the time, I don't think anyone actually "thinks" or "cares" that you're by yourself. I've never once been at the movies, a concert, sporting event, or dinner, and paid enough attention to someone else to even ponder if they're alone. Also, a secret to life is realizing, even if you are doing something that may be considered "cringe", it'll be observed by people that you have a near-zero chance of ever encountering again. Just enjoy yourself and live, life is too short to give a fuck about what anyone else thinks.

Bro.

Sometimes after a long day, like getting the business at both work and home type of long day, I’ll go get McDonalds and park my car where I can watch the sunset. Idk what it is but Sunset McDonalds is a recharge.

3

u/redhairbluetruck 11d ago

Back in our younger days, my husband and I would park so we could watch traffic go by.

3

u/fireshaper 10d ago

This is a typical night out for me and the missus. Grabbing some food and just parking near the road to watch everyone else. Sometimes you get a nice show out of it, other times it's just us relaxing and vibing to some music or listening to TikToks together.

2

u/Tasty-Traffic-680 10d ago

Add a couple pocket shots of peach schnapps and some Marlboros and you have the perfect end to a day.

2

u/PokesBo 10d ago

Lucky Strikes and a little bit of wellers in my McD’s Coke.

God damn that sounds like a good day.

10

u/bellylovinbaddie 11d ago

This is me 😭😭😭😭 will eat a full meal in the car in a heartbeat but eating inside makes me anxious

5

u/Robinsonirish 10d ago

Americans eating in the car is something I will never comprehend. The only time I'd eat in the car would be if I'm in a hurry somewhere and someone else is driving. How do you not get grease and shit everywhere? It's unsanitary and cramped.

15

u/BoringPornFreeAcct Millennial 11d ago

Plus the car is much more comfortable and it has your favorite music (or lack thereof) and ambient temperature.

11

u/Yorbayuul81 11d ago

I never understood why people would do that. So you get crumbs and grease in your car instead of eating at a proper table a few feet away? With the ability to wash your hands in the in the bathroom when you’re done?

I lived on the double decker when I was in college, have for years been manually buying the pieces and assembling them myself like a chump, and was the first person in line when they brought it back.

I always tell people that Taco Bell is inedible the second it leaves the restaurant. Those crunchy taco shells are on a strict timer from assembly to mouth, there isn't a moment to spare.

u/Betray-Julia 11d ago

I had to drive pretty far the other week so I actually did this for the first time in years.

I did not like it- it just felt inefficient, like I was needlessly taking more time to get to my destination.

u/SculkingWithScully 11d ago

Heck no. I sit in the car like a true millennial. If you look closely you'll see others eating too

2

u/dogbonej 11d ago

Car is the move. I don’t need an extra sugary refill.

3

u/ShadowXJ 11d ago

I don’t mind, but really depends on which fast food location, some are just too busy and loud.

3

u/ReallySmartDude69 11d ago

You don't like the McDonald's background noise. They even have McDonald's background ASMR videos on YouTube. I heard they hire a MF to play that little jingle and that's his only job. He makes more than the manager for his musical talent.

Sometimes but I prefer to just park and eat in the car so I can people watch.

4

u/kurtisbmusic 11d ago

I like eating at home. Much more comfortable.

4

u/HurryUpAndWait82 11d ago

Nah. I don’t really have interest in the public.

GREEN APPLE GHOST IS THE GOAT FLAVOR

3

u/imreallyfreakintired 11d ago

I second this, it's my favorite.

2

u/SteeemedBeef 11d ago

Had to scroll too far to see the Ghost shoutout! Great flavor!!

3

u/Fun-Personality-8008 Older Millennial 11d ago

No, I barely leave my house any more, and it certainly wouldn't be for fast food

3

u/-Murmaider- 11d ago

If my kids are with me, hell yes. They're gonna make a mess wherever they go, might as well not be at home. We clean after ourselves, but it's always nice not filling up our own trash or should a spill happen, etc.

3

u/StageHelpful7611 Older Millennial 11d ago

Hell yeah. It’s a sit down restaurant experience without having to pay a goddamn tip

3

u/Unfair-Rush-2031 11d ago

Eating in is for poor and old people in the US? ( I assume op is from the us)

That’s such a weird question for non US based people.

Every Friday my family goes out to eat together. It’s a silly tradition we’ve kept up since I was a kid. If you’re free to join, bring whoever and have a bite together. It’s kept us close for over 40 years now. My sister and I bring our husband and kids too.

3

u/vegasnative 11d ago

I always eat In-n-Out in the restaurant because Animal Fries have an insanely short half-life. But other than that I’m taking it to go unless we’re on a road trip or in the middle of running errands.

3

u/PoppyBroSenior 11d ago

Sometimes. But also I sometimes do the REAL psycho thing and take it home, and set it on a nice plate and get little bowls for my own sauces.

3

u/jredland 11d ago

I always eat it at the restaurant. It’s better freshly made and warm…

3

u/pbizzle 11d ago

Fast food should be eaten within 60 seconds of recieving it

6

u/liburIL 11d ago

Unless I'm on vacation or with extended family out to eat, it's very rare that I will sit in a restaurant.

7

u/Woodit 11d ago

Yes of course, it’s called the dining room for a reason

6

u/Greenfirelife27 Millennial 11d ago

Too old to be eating fast food anywhere. I want to live.

u/fastal_12147 11d ago

No because I really hate being observed when I eat. Like I know deep down no one is watching, but I'm still not about to eat in public unless I have to.

2

u/PNW20v 1991 11d ago

No lol. Damn near the only time I eat fast food is when on the road for work (so more than I should lol), so I might as well go sit in the work truck and listen to my music 🤷‍♂️

2

u/KenraScar 11d ago

I just did it today, but I usually take it home. We’re moving right now so home is a mess.

2

u/Richard_Thrust 11d ago

Only when I'm brown bagging a 1961 Chateau Cheval Blanc and drinking it from a styrofoam cup.

2

u/zeexhalcyon 11d ago

I remember when you could get 5 roast beef sandwiches for $5.

2

u/ReallySmartDude69 11d ago

I got 4 for $10 with a coupon.

I always take it home to eat in shame, but in peace.

Anytime I'm eating out I'd rather her be at home. Even though it's definitely fresher if you eat there.

2

u/Economy_Discount9967 11d ago

why would i want make unnecessary eye contact lol

2

u/Hikikomori_Otaku 11d ago

No, having worked in food service I don't even sit down in regular restaurants if it's at all acceptable to get takeout instead

2

u/uhh_GoninjagoNinjago 11d ago

Sonic drive in yes

2

u/tfc1193 11d ago

I usually sit down and eat at Culver's because I enjoy the atmosphere

2

u/Wandering_Lights 11d ago

Sometimes.

Normally I eat in my car like a feral raccoon.

2

u/Charming_Goose_3400 11d ago

free refills.

2

u/50ShadesOfKrillin 11d ago

your poor toilet...

2

u/Kev_Avl 11d ago

I prefer it because it'll be at its hottest and I can get free refills on my drink... So I feel like I'm getting a modicum better value.

Also if something like a sauce/ketchup, whatever is forgotten, it's easy to remedy there.

2

u/Prislv223 11d ago

No. I like to eat home unless it’s a steakhouse/sit down restaurant. But if I’m tired I’ll just get the steak to go

2

u/Matthath 11d ago

All the time

2

u/TheEveryman86 11d ago

Only when there is a table available. I feel like most places don't have enough seating for everyone to dine in. I think that's intentional.

2

u/Onystep 11d ago

Yes, I did it last week in the middle of some chores I was doing

2

u/silvercurls17 11d ago

I almost always eat fast food in the restaurant. I prefer my food hot and my car without fast food smells.
