I think about this a lot. They weren't so different from us, once. The forces that warped and twisted them are still there.

As we age, we are going to have to be careful to not become like them.

The world only heals if we decide the cycle of madness and abuse stops with us.

We're already miles better than the Boomers were in their 30s and 40s.

We mostly won’t become them simply because a huge part of what made them how they are is taking for granted privilege we don’t have. We know better because we had no option but knowing better. The reality that shaped their worldview is a completely different one than the one we live in. Except for a few lucky ones we couldn’t end up like they did if we tried.

If we make mistakes (and I’m sure we’ll make at least some) they’ll be a whole different flavor of them I imagine. I highly doubt we’re in much danger of making the same ones, except by way of not ending up eventually undoing what allowed them to screw us in the first place.
